I must agree with Average Sized Officer, I too, am 5'11", 175 lbs.
The vest fits "ok" if I wear it on the outside of my 3-in-1 5.11 winter jacket, but this cannot be worn with just a short sleeve uniform shirt (i.e., during the summer.) As he mentioned, I also found that it is way too big and bulky, even on me, it sags down in the front, entirely covers the duty belt if you don't cram it in behind it (in which case the velcro pads are no longer accessible & you can't attach the straps), and it sticks out several inches on the shoulders...it just looks foolish.
very comfortable and not stiff! Has an easy accessable zippered pouch for things you need to carry at all times like keys, pens, notepad ect.
Superior quality and excellent visibility... break away feature is very important working around hydraulic/pneumatic equipment, aircraft engines, and other hazardous anomalies. 5.11 badly needs to expand into my industry- Aviation/airport operations. Not all pilots wear pressed slacks and dress shoes... I fly an old airplane and handle heavy, bulky, sharp, toxic and even radioactive medical freight on behalf of some major logistics companies (hint: very liberal uniform budgets for employees:-). I also work in all-weather conditions and regularly operate at 3rd-world airports where personal safety is much more of a "personal" issue! I personally purchased two pair of your new Stryke pants and find them beyond perfect for my operation while still meeting my companies' uniform specs: "navy blue Dickies or similar". Several of my fellow pilots have followed suit despite these pants being beyond their personal budget! Keep up the great work and please get into Aviation!
I was just issued this vest to wear during all traffic assignments. I am 5'11" and 175lbs. When I wear this vest with just a uniform shirt underneath, I look foolish to say the least. When I pin my badge to the front, the vest pulls down in the front. The shoulders stick out several inches. The straps on the side are so low that they cover my firearm.
If 5.11 would offer smaller sizes I may recommend this item. However, at this time, I am highly disappointed.
