COVRT Pistol Pouch

Pros

  • Quality Materials

Cons

  • Irregular Fit

Best Uses

This pistol pouch is too small for a full-size semi-auto such as a Springfield XD/XDM or Glock. Will fit a subcompact ok, if you don't have a mag extension. Guess I'll just put it away until I get my subcompact.

    Comments about COVRT Pistol Pouch:

I purchased this pouch to function as an "open carry" holster in a state that doesn't have open carry. I assumed it would fit vertically on a belt. Disappointed.

    Limited functionality

    By Some Guy

    from Fairfax, VA

    Comments about COVRT Pistol Pouch:

I was looking for a solution to carrying a handgun in bags not designed for concealed carry when I want to carry off-body. This is primarily when carrying business-style bags. I also wanted some versatility, such as being able to use it with hiking packs.

So if the primary purpose of this pouch is for covert carrying, *WHY* in the world did they design it with the only attachment solution being molle? It can't be mounted on a belt or on a pack strap. When mounted vertically on a strap, it's off-center due to the design of the molle.

It comes with a hook & loop patch for apparent mounting, but let's be realistic for a second...if you pull the tab designed to quickly open the pouch to gain access to the firearm and it is only mounted using the hook & loop patch, you're not getting access to your firearm. The whole pouch is coming off.

On top of that, as others have mentioned, the size is a bit limiting. If I put an M&P Shield with the extended 8-round mag in, it will close, but it is such a tight fit that it cannot be opened quickly using the quick-pull tab.

So, if your need is for a pouch for a small sub-compact that can only be mounted to molle or to the shoulder strap of the 5.11 COVRT bags, go for it. But if you want something that is a bit more versatile in mounting to non-tactical packs and allow you quick access to your weapon, you might want to look elsewhere.

I do like the mag pouches, and I do like the good construction. I just don't like how limited it is for mounting, and how little thought seems to have gone into versatility.

I may still keep it as an expensive "drop into another bag" solution, but am probably more likely to return it due to the lack of ability to mount it on anything. There's cheaper soft handgun cases out there.

      Comments about COVRT Pistol Pouch:

I was able to fit either a G26 (with flush and extended mags) or a G19 (with a standard mag) in this pouch without issue. Some other reviews said a G19 would not fit--wrong!

Well made but not very useful

I bought this product to add an additional compartment to my COVRT ZAP 6 covert carry bag. I didn't find a good way to incorporate it with the COVRT ZAP 6. The COVRT Pistol pouch can only fit a pistol the same size of a Glock 26 or smaller. The COVRT Pistol Pouch works okay on the belt, but only horizontally. It does not attach vertically to a belt. I found the badge compartment on the COVRT Pistol Pouch to not be useful. To me, the COVRT Pistol Pouch does not meet my needs and isn't worth the money. It is well made, but in need of a redesign for improved function and use. My COVRT Pistol Pouch sits in a box with other useless holsters I have bought and field tested over the years. I look forward to a redesign of this product for future consideration.
