Taclite 6" Side Zip Boot

Wear these boots for everyday wear. The first day the boot seemed stiff and tight but they broke in within a couple of wears and conform to my feet for the most comfortable boot ever. I have them in both black and tan. Zipper access can't be beat.

After a couple of days of adjusting the lases to get fit just right these boots are extremely comfy for a long day on concrete. The snake laces are excelent at holding their position,the tongue pocket for the lases is a cool feature, & the boots have really good arch support.I will definetly buy again..

I have previously owned the Haste 6 Inch Boot and XPRT Patrol 8 Inch boot from 5.11, but in a size 15 (Which is wide enough but a full size too long). FINALLY 5.11 has made a wide sized boot for the bigger sizes and I purchased the Taclite 6 Inch boot in 14 Wide. After 24 hours of owning them, here is the review:

Out of the box, they look and feel great! It has a very aggressive look but they feel very lightweight and civilized. It sort of feels like a high-top sneaker, and that's exactly what I was hoping for. I took them for a few hour test walk outside and have worn them around the house all day - no tight spots or comfort issues at all. They look good to wear with my new Taclite Stryke Pants or Taclite 11" Shorts on the hot days. They have a sort of "Chubby" look to them, which with the lace to toes style makes my huge feet look a little smaller than normal - and that's a good thing! Maybe that's also due the fact that I've had to wear a 5.11 size 15 until now.

As for durability, I will have to wait and see, but typically a pair of tactical boots starts to break down on me after 6 months of full time use, and I would assume these will be the same.

The side zip on this boot is really short and doesn't allow me to keep the laces tied for on and off ease. For me to easily slide them on and off, I need to loosen the laces and undo the zipper each time - no big deal, but on the Haste boots I only used the zipper and was able to leave them tied all the time.

The soles aren't as rugged and all terrain as the XPRT's, and these are a lot more civilized for indoor use and pavement walking etc. although they feel a little slippery on a tiled floor. My right boot has a quiet little squeak when I walk, not overly noticeable but it's there.

In my past two pairs of boots I bought a new pair of insoles for the boots, on these I don't know If I'll have to - the arch support and cushioning is actually really good. Again, could be that I'm finally wearing the right size!

If you're a fan of 5.11 boots, you'll like these, and I would recommend them for sure. I work in Contract Security, and my environment changes daily, sometimes I'm inside, sometimes I'm outside etc. and I continue to come back to 5.11 for my boots. I've used other brands as well, but at the end of the day - most boot brands are also made in China as it is, so I jut look for comfort and looks, and forgive the various companies for their durability issues.

Thankfully 5.11 is considering a cooler shoe by creating this one. It is amazing the amount of guys i work with that are crying for a shoe that isnt lined with any material and will let thier feet breath. I purposly did not review this product till I used it for 3 months. I had to replace the inserts with custom orthotics to get rid of the pain in the left side of the shoe. Other then that they feel like a glorified hightop shoe; comfortable and light. My legs dont feel fatigued from standing on concrete anymore. I predict a year or 2 at most before they fall apart. As for the coolness of them. Its close but I still keep the sides unzipped on hotter days. Straight leather style boots were cooler and lasted me almost 5 years but not comfortable. Customer service was awesome.I probably wont buy again but will look for a all leather comfortable boot next time.
