Installation instructions:
The proper orientation is: rubber side should face the wearer's legs (knees), with the widest part of the pads on the bottom. If you take a pic of the taclite pro pants from this website, and overlay the pic of the pads on top of that, the pads will be in proper orientation. This orientation is mentioned in the pads packaging.
Some reviewers mentioned installation is tricky. It is super easy if you do it this way: turn the pants inside out (BTW care instructions are: wash inside out, machine wash cold), fold/roll the pads into a tube, put the tube inside the opening in the pants leg, unfold the pad, make sure it's sitting straight in the pocket, and would be in proper orientation once your return the pants from inside out to normal.

Usage review: the pads provide warmth in cold weather, and a bit of protection. They are rather hot in warm weather, which is obvious. They don't provide the kind of protection you can get with plastic/EVA/D3O etc. pads. They do shift around a bit in use.

I have the pads in my 5.11 TDU pants. The knee pads are so comfortable that I forget they're there - - that is until a take-down and then my knees and I are grateful they're there.

These knee pads are great. I have them in all my tactical pants. They save your knees and they last as long as the pants do.

Easy to install, just roll with fabric side out and then slip it in to the pocket and unroll.

I received these with a few pair of pants and was disapointed to find out that there is no knee pad pocket on my 5.11 Tactical Flannel Pants.
