This are a great lightweight boot love that I bought these boots to do my delivery job at UPS in Wyoming since I walk in water and snow and the mud
I work full time EMS, doing a 24 and a 48 hour shift every week. I bought this boot because of the side zipper, expecting to be able to slip into them in a hurry when the tones go off. However, even when the zipper is down and the laces are untied, it's impossible to get into them quickly. I had to start carrying a shoe horn with me at all times, just so I could get them on quickly enough to respond. The boot is comfortable enough, but I have to keep the fit loose, in order to even get them on using the shoe horn, so my foot slides around on the inside a little.
Another downside is that the boots scuff up very easily. In order to keep them looking nice, I almost need to polish them every day.
Literally the only up side to these boots are that they are comfortable and dry. If you are on call and never take your boots off, and have all the time in the world to get these on, these boots will work great for you. If you need to respond quickly, and you don't want to wear your boots constantly, don't buy this boot. I will not buy these again.
These boots are good over-all. I work in EMS and I've had my pair for around a year. The laces did break and the boots are a bit scraped, but they're otherwise fine. Laces aren't expensive and the boot polish kit 511 sells takes care of the boot's appearance. The boots provide great traction and protection and are very waterproof. This has been really helpful when going down steep, muddy hills to get to a patient as well as in other situations. I'm definitely satisfied with my purchase.
I found the boots to be quite comfortable upon first wear. Sadly, the toes have become so scraped(far worse than the last brand I had) and the laces are falling apart. I've only had these boots for about 1.5 months and I wear them every third day, so it's not like I am abusing them. The laces are short, also, so they tend to untie from walking. The only benefit here is you can then get in and out of them quickly, when needed, because when tied, it's hard to slip your foot in and out, even with the zipper down. They do however, keep your feet dry in water. Overall, a so-so boot.
These boots are durable and comfortable. I am on my second pair, and the first pair has lasted me two+ years.
I work for the local fire department, both on the Fire and EMS side. The boots are great for the weight side of things, heavy duty but fairly light. Also, emergencies don't have a schedule so the side zip works incredible to save valued seconds trying to get turnouts on! Anyone in emergency services needs to check these out!
I'm on my 3 or 4th pair of these boots and they are excellent. They are comfortable for day to day use of constantly being on your feet. The only thing stopping me from giving it 5 stars is the fact that cosmetically they don't hold up well. With every pair, within 6 months, the leather front toe area on the outside of the boot is completely worn off. This might just be because of how I use them or what I do with them during the day, but it has been with every pair. Otherwise, they are the best boots I've ever owned.
I just received my first set of ATAC 6in boots from 5.11. So far I am very pleased with the comfort and build quality compared to others brands I have worn. My only issues is the green sewn patch and white tag on the exterior of the tongue on the right boot, provides too much contrast to the boot, and is not easily removable. These should either be toned down to black with dark gray text to match the rest of the boot, or move the logos inside the boot.
This my 3rd pair order last me for 3 years. I do always on foot patrol within various weathers. And also Hot weather with 115 degree when I was station in Las Vegas was totally amaze, this boots breath and comfortable whole entire watch. I would highly recommend these to all fellow enforcement.
I recently purchased these boots after watching video reviews online and reading feedback from other users through multiple ecommerce websites. These boots are what I wanted in every aspect and then some. The composite toe is plenty of protection and a few grams lighter than steel toes. The full grain leather look and feel ad a sense of quality that show others that you're not wearing a pair of cheap boots. Getting these boots on and off are effortless. The Velcro keeping the zipper covered isn't quite grasping amongst the loop material on both sides, which is my only concern with these boots. in the type of work I do, making adjustments to changing conditions with these on my feet will tackle any obstacle thrown at me.
