Known for its trademark rear slash pockets and utility strap, the sturdy, seven-pocket 5.11 Tactical Pants is so comfortable and functional, it has become an industry icon.
Functionality
Made of tough, 8.5-oz. 100% cotton canvas that becomes increasingly more comfortable over time, the 5.11 Tactical Pants stands up to the rigors of daily work, play and travel. Known for superior comfort, functionality and fit, the tactical pants feature a self-adjusting comfort waistband that helps you bend and stretch with ease. For best results, pair the 5.11 Tactical Pants with the 5.11 Tactical Shirts or 5.11 Tactical Polo.
Storage
Front pockets are strong and roomy; inverted pleats on the cargo pockets remain flat until needed for a neat, professional appearance. A narrow thigh pocket accommodates a magazine, cell phone or utility knife. The extra deep rear slash pockets are easily accessed and hold extended mags, a baton or a 15” flashlight. You can also use the utility strap to secure a flashlight or store your ear protection at the range.
Durability
The 5.11 Tactical Pants utilizes a proprietary weave that binds in on itself to prevent raveling. Double and triple-needle construction is utilized throughout, plus 48 bartacks in high-stress areas add to the tremendous strength of the tactical pants. For added durability, the magazine/cell phone pocket and corners of the slash pockets are lined with Cordura® nylon. The double reinforced seat and knees provide enhanced abrasion protection, and interior knee slots are ready to accept 6mm neoprene kneepads. At the ankle hemline, built-in blousing strap openings can accommodate 500 cord.
Hardware
On the 5.11 Tactical Pants, we use only genuine, locking-flange YKK® zippers and quality PRYM® snaps, both of which are top-of-the-line in the industry. Additional quality hardware is found in the front, where a convenient D-ring holds your keys, or ID.
Fit
The legendary fit of the 5.11 Tactical Pant is a closely-guarded secret based on a tried-and-true formula created 30 years ago from its mountaineering roots. Designed for active movement in changing conditions, the pants perform and look great on individuals of all shapes and sizes. This same superior fit is also found in the 5.11 Tactical Short, 5.11 Covert Khaki and the 5.11 Tactical Shirt.

Check out some of our customer reviews.
Bought some 511 Tactical pants, two of them actually. They are of great quality, and plan to order more! I also plan on ordering their tactical shorts with their tactical pants, and also an operator’s belt. They ship very quickly. Very impressed. Great job guys, and thanks! Good job on your tactical pants
The Tactical pants are great.
I buy minimum quantities of inexpensive clothing. I don't find these tactical pants to be inexpensive. However, they are so great, these last two I ordered bring my total purchased to seven. They're worth the money. Good job on your tactical pants.
Just recently purchased a few pairs of the tactical pants and haven't even worn all pairs yet as I've been asked to write a review on them already! So as far as the timing is concerned I think the pants are very nice, neat and professional looking. No unhappy surprises to say the least. I'm content with them thus far and hope they will hold up. They seem to be applicable to the expectations I need. Thanks 5.11 on the tactical pants!
Excellent fitting tactical pants plus pockets that items do not fall out of. After sending my order the "free" belt with a pair of tactical pants popped up....So..Missed a free belt but the one purchased is a sturdy and fine belt. The buckle holds the belt without slipping open. Thanks again for superior products and great tactical pants. Cliff Hjelmer
Great design, great fit, great selection of colors, and built to take punishment in stride. No wonder whenever I attend a shooting clinic or match these days, it seems like EVERYONE is wearing the 5.11 Tactical Pants!
This is the first pair tactical pants that have ever fit so good. They are incredibly well made, with a great mag pouch. Plenty of pocket space, great reinforcements, and easily worth their weight in gold. I plan on stocking my entire wardrobe with several pairs of these tactical pants. Well done, 511!!
I ordered a 32 waist and 34 length but received 34 waist and 32 length on your tactical pants. However, this is the only issue I have had on my three purchases.
I have to say that these are fantastic tactical pants! They are cut very generous as well, plenty of room for being active. My only complaint is that it costs an additional $10 per pair of tactical pants to get them unhemmed. If you are as tall as I am 6'7", I need all the length I can get. But it makes no sense to me that I have to pay so much more for a product that has LESS done to it. There shouldn't be a charge to NOT have someone hem them! Otherwise they are great tactical pants, long lasting, and jammed full of handy pockets and features! Can't go wrong with these tactical pants!
My husband purchased 1 pair of these FANTASTIC 5.11 tactical pants and now I'm back to purchase more, I'm even buying me a pair for my hiking trips as I will be able to carry my supplies with keeping hands free. What a great find this was for us...... And not to mention the QUALITY is #1 and in service too.
I am a Radiation Protection Technician in a nuclear power plant. These tactical pants are perfect for my work. I regularly have to carry instruments around, a radio, gloves, and other materials to do my job. The back slash pockets are great for securing my instruments. The built-in belt is great for clipping my radio onto. I carry my procedure booklets and smear materials in my cargo pockets on the tactical pants. I keep a tactical flashlight in the small pocket on the front/left of my tactical pants. And of course the cellphone and wallet have pockets too.
We have a problem with static building up on our clothes and alarming our personnel monitors at this plant. So you almost always have to wear 100% cotton (helps reduce the static). I had a lot of trouble finding a good cargo pant that was 100% cotton until I found these.
These pants are great all around. I can maintain my professional appearance and still have the functionality that I need to do my job.
Okay, I've gone through about 10 pairs of these tactical pants in the past 4 years and well. But, something I've noticed is that the SIZE of the pants is dependent on the COLOUR of the pants. For example: the Khaki's are larger than the Tundras and CB's on the tactical pants.
Another thing, is that for me, the double knee is a bit low on the leg for me and it gets in the way a LITTLE when I crouch. I have to pull the pants up a bit with my hands in order to crouch comfortably. I still love them, but they're not perfect.
I've been buying and wearing 5.11 tactical pants for 4 years. As much as I love the design I would MUCH rather pay $5 or $10 -- or even more to bump up the quality of the dye (on black) and the fabric. They just fade and wear MUCH more than other black jeans shorts and shirts that I have had for years. 5.11 cotton fade and wear little holes on the edges of pockets and bottom hem very quickly. I use cold water and have a modern low heat dryer. I have a closet full of too many worn 5.11 tactical pants that I can only use for 'yard work' and one pair fit for work that will stay nice for 3 or 4 months before it fades and wears out too. Again I have lots of black clothes that do hold up to which I am comparing these 5.11 tactical pants. I do have a pair of your nylon tactical pants that do fade less but cotton is warmer.
Saw the 5.11 Tactical Pants featured on the CBS Morning Show and I thought that I would take a chance and purchase a pair of tactical pants. I got them today and I am favorably impressed. They are very well made and fit great. I got a pair in black. I plan to purchase a few more pairs of tactical pants in some of the other available colors. I would highly recommend them to my friends, and if you are considering them I would recommend them to you as well... Thanks 5.11 for making the tactical pants
I was a bit Skeptical at first but I must say these are by far the most comfortable tactical pants I have ever worn. The color (Fire Navy) was the exact color I was looking for, and along with the BDU Class A shirt this will be an outstanding uniform. Thanks 5.11 on your tactical pants
I spent the better part of nine months in New Orleans after hurricane Katrina doing Law Enforcement, Executive Protection & Private Security work. Your 5.11 tactical pants were tough being washed and dried every day as well all the ground pounding, building searches with loose wood with nails, they stood up to all the snags and other clothing challanges put to them. Over two years later I still wear those same three pairs of 5.11 tactical pants BRAVO and Two thumbs up, great tactical pants!!!
I have used these tactical pants for over a year now, and they are great. They work really well, and have a great deal of pockets in the tactical pants.
The only problem is that I have the black pair, and they fade slightly. I wear them with the TDU rip-stop shirt, and you can see a definite difference in the color of black.
5.11 tactical pants, great, got one i each colour and wear them all the time ( the missus does not like that so much but i can`t help it ;)!) now comes the "but" : the black colour fades way to quick and made the tactical pants looks old after only a couple of months do not have the same trouble with coyote or dark navy so !? otherwise tooo many pockets, no, just joking, my torch is always with me as well as a security knife in the well designed rear pocket
the utility straps has seen much action as well, towel in summer, gloves in winter
keep it up, got me the tactical pants too ;)
I've been looking for a good pair of cargo tactical pants for a while when I found these. That they come in colors other than black and kakhi seems nothing short of miraculous. Great tactical pants
I'm a professional computer geek who does a lot of network support, so having a bunch of pockets to stash an assortment of small tools, patch cords, and small bits of electronics is essential, in addition of course to the wallet that's way too thick to sit on comfortably, the PDA, cellphone, iPod, and a digital camera.
My only complaint is that some have 5 belt loops and some have 7 and there doesn't seem to be any way to specify which way you want it. my first pair of black pants had 7 belt loops, the second had only 5. My green pants came the opposite. The ability to specify would not be awry.
Personally, I'd also love to have another cellphone pocket on the other leg.
I own three pairs of tactical pants and they all fit great. After several washings the 5.11 Tactical pants still have their color. I wear the 5.11 Tactical pants on training days as well as off-duty.
...is that my boss at the security company I work for doesn't like for me to wear the 5.11 Tactical Pants. Despite that they are like 10 times more comfortable than the pants they issue us--which stick to me like a cheap suit. *shudder*
However I still wear them at work and manage to get away with it on certain occassions.
Other than that? 5.11 pants are the best pants I ever wore. I refuse to wear anything else.
That and I'd like to see the 5.11 "Holster Pants" make a come-back. =)
These tactical pants would be great tactical pants if the black did not fade WAY too much. I buy a pair of tactical pants every year simply because they fade a lot. I have a closet full of black jeans that don't fade. I wash in cold water once a week and in 5 - 6 months I'll need another pair and use the faded ones for painting/yard work pants -- my pile of work pants is getting too big. I'd rather pay more and have better quality dye and fabric.
I've been wearing these tactical pants for about 5 years now, I have tried the nylon version also. I have adopted them as my unofficial uniform, and own about a dozen pair. I am a retired cop, t3wenty years as a major crime scene forensic analyst and now run my own Private investgation, legal service company. No domestics, but I stay very busy. These tactical pants are the best, except! Every pair I own, the elastic in the sides loses its pull very quickly. Less then a year into the life of these tactical pants and the yare almost unwearable becasue they no longer fit. A year is not enough for a $50 pair of pants. Also, the french fly button, on almost every pair, works loose very quickly. Simple to fix, but a detail over looked by 5.11 Tactical.
I am going to try some of hte competitors pants and compare the durability. When I called customer service, they said, sorry, a year warrenty. I have about 7 pair of useless pants because the elastic has worn out!
I originally bought these from Royal Robbins, at a higher price, but they were worth it! Now 5.11 Tactical keeps these great tactical pants alive in many more useful variations, thanks from the bottom of my... um... I started wearing tactical pants years ago when i did field service for a company that made steam sterilizers. The thick cotton provided a degree of protection against the hot piping, after off hours in a hot sterilizer access room, I would be quite sweaty, yet these tactical pants remained non-binding and very comfortable to move around in. The elastic sides do not dig in as some tactical pants do, an important feature after 10-12 hours in the same sweaty tactical pants. I've NEVER found a better pair of tactical pants, from army BDUs to designer style climbing tactical pants costing twice as much. They might not be the best choice for actual combat type operations, but for civilian field use- they are optimum.
These are truly serious tactical pants that could and should be the basis of any uniform for people that work hard in the field. Strange that they work so well for an engineering job as well, I will be trying the the different styles soon, and have great hopes for their utility and functionality. Great Tactical Pants!
Anyone who works hard and active owes it to themselves to try these pants, there is a very good reason the style has survived for so long.
