Airlines considered this bag over-sized. I learned this the hard way. I paid $200 extra, each way, taking this bag to Michigan on a fishing trip. Also, because the bag is so heavy in its own right, you can't really put that much stuff in it without going over the 50 pound limit imposed by most airlines.
The bag itself is great though, high quality and well thought out.
I take this bag with me when I Travel to Europe. More than enough room. Heavy duty, well constructed. The Main compartment dividers & fiberglass rods that keep the bag square are awesome. No problems with it.
The only down side is this bag is so big not all the airlines will accept it without charging you extra. So I bought a second one the SOMS™ 2.0 equally as Awesome!
I use this every time I go out into the field. I fit pretty much everything I need and then some.
I have the original SOM's bag but due to price and great ruggedness I haven't needed to buy the 2.0 version. The bag I have has been on several month long trips into field and it still looks like I bought only a few months ago, been using it about 4-5 years now. Awesome bag, just wish I could get the newer version as the pull/lift handles on the end are centered and mine are not so pulling is sometimes I bit awkward but I have that covered.
I am constantly recommending this bag to my buddies in my unit, some have shown great interest in it after seeing just what and how I can fit all my uniforms and gear into it. The side pockets make it great immediate access to items, the ability to section my gear allows me organize easily. I sit the bag at the end of my cot and quickly access whatever I need whenever I need it. The ability to put locks on all the zippers is a definite plus to keep my gear secured when in travel. This has been my best choice investment in bags to date. Plain Awesome bag.
This duffel is cavenous. It carries everything I need with some room to spare.
As far as build quality...it's built like a tank!

The only thing I do not like about the CAMS 2.0 is the weight of the empty bag. With all of the restrictions on airlines these days, it is hard to travel without paying some kind of fees. I was looking for something that was light but prefect to travel with. I could not find a site or details about how much the CAMS 2.0 weighted. So i think they should add it to their details about the bag.
Great bag to hold deployment gear in one place. Easy to access all equipment. Able to add additional MOLLE pouches to interior. Difficult to lock, but that may be asking too much.
Overall great volume and features. Well thought out and quality materials. Well recommended. Good value
I am a traveling welder and i need a huge bag for all my FR clothing, hard hat, welding hoods ect. This definatly fits everything i need.
I wanted a large bag to keep in the back of my truck "just in case". I keep an assortment of my most commonly used gear, rather than in the house, allows me to dispatch quickly, or always be ready when away from my home. There is plenty of room to keep at least a weeks worth of clothes, weapons, ammo and gear right at hand. The MOLLE attachment points inside work great with the 5.11 "Slickstick" pouches. The 5.11 rifle case fits perfectly in the bottom of the unit, protected in a polymer tub, yet easy to access.
