Bought these as an all-purpose jean for weekend adventure, training without needing to be kitted out and general wear.
First, the quality is great. They feel durable but they still move well. Getting a 36” inseam is also awesome as a taller guy with a lean build (6’4” 185 lbs) and limited options.
But the slim part is where they miss, as do many other clothing companies who do “slim.”
They are super loose in the seat/upper legs and even after a wash dont have a great fit. That’s fine forna regulat pant but disappointing for something sold as a slim pant. I even double checked the tags to make sure I didn’t get the straight fit by mistake.
Hoping they refine these a bit to make a jean closer to the VertX Delta pant.
I bought a pair of the slim fit because the straight fit wasn't available yet. I am NOT a slim fit kind of guy, but these pants are not your kid's slim fit. They are comfortable and look good with most kinds of shoes/sandals. or boots I would get the straight fit - I like the mag pockets because my cell phone fits perfect and when you're sitting down the phone sits higher so no "butt dials", and you are comfortable. Gonna buy some other colors next
Have both colors in Slim fit and they are amazing. Just the right amount of slim without being too tight but nicer than a relaxed fit Levi. Pockets placement and quality is superb. I'm 6'4" 220lbs. and the 35w 36L fit like a glove. Only wish you offered them in some FDE or tan and Grey colors. Heres to hoping the color offerings expand. Otherwise don't change a thing!
These pants are great. The name says all....flex! They are the most comfortable jeans I own. I only wish they made them in 34x29.
By far the best jeans on the market, mechanical stretch allows excellent flexibility and extra comfort, pockets are awesome. 5.11 designers did excellent job, I will never go back to regular jeans
The pants are very comfortable and practical. But the paint that is used for the trousers is very bad (for Dark Wash Indigo). Paint everything that touches your pants. The use of poor paint is very bad for the authority of 5.11
Well, I was beyond excited to finally have a pair of stretch denim from 5.11. Being that I'm slender, a 28 waist tactical pant, that's not tactical looking, is hard to come by. Hence the excitement for this pant. Well, I can say that I was thoroughly disappointed. The length at 30 inches is much longer than any other pant I own (its definitely NOT 30 inches). The 28 waist is more like a 29-30. The pant legs are not quite slim - they were more loose fitting. The concept and quality are great, but the execution was quite poor for a 'slim fit' pant.
I am enthusiastic about the brand, and especially the tactical pants in their various applications, however these Jean Defender Flex are worthy representatives of the brand. I bought this model with the expectation of the good quality of the 5.11 products and they are astonishing in their quality, design and the way of carving to the body. Summary that are great.
Where do I start? The quality of the jeans are top of the line. Very comfortable and the flex fabric allows the jeans to move with you. They look great on the range and for going out. My favorite feature are the back yoke pockets. Those of us who conceal carry know what a pain in the butt it is to carry extra mags. I have purchased 3 different mag carriers and they all are uncomfortable or show. These pockets allow you to conceal extra mags in comfort. Thank you 5.11 for making an innovative jean. I can't wait to buy another pair and to buy the defender flex pant.
