**TLDR @ the bottom**
I'm not being hyperbolic when I say this; these are the best fitting jeans I've ever worn. It's that simple. These feel great from day 1. I have really big thighs so I was worried that would be an issue. Other jeans fail the thigh test unless I size up the waist. I got these in my size and they don't squeeze at all.
The flex is phenomenal. It's a feature you know you want in a jean but never knew existed. Moving completely unimpeded in a pair of jeans is new to me. I might never buy a different brand of jeans.
On to the bad. Another 1"-2" of front pocket length would have pushed these over the top. The much worse issue is this dye. I wore them out and my fingers are blue. Hoping this issue will resolve itself with washing.
TLDR: Buy these jeans. They fit like no other. The dye runs like hell and they have shallow front pockets.
These are the best pair of jeans I have owned! They feel worn in but are still very durable. There is an adequate fly length and the belt loops in the front are wide enough for appendix carry. My only flaw with these jeans is the dark wash indigo. After 10+ hot washes (jeans have not shrunk), the dye still rubs off on everything. It has turned my socks, boots, dryer, anything that was in the dryer, my legs and hands blue. These jeans are worth it but be prepared to become a tactical smurf.
These jeans fit like a dream! I have thicker legs then the average guy so finding jeans at every stores are near impossible. However, the Defender-Flex fits me better than any other jean I've ever bought. I highly recommend them. The material is very durable and sturdy. Not much change in fit from washing and wearing multiple times so you don't have to worry about them stretching over time.
As another review stated, the front pockets are too shallow. I am not sure how 5.11 overlooked this especially in a "tactical" type pant. Other than this let down they fit me well and appear to be very well made.
I just got a pair at my local 5.11 store. I tried them on when I got home and haven't taken them off. They are extremely comfortable and fit great. The extra pockets and 5 the pocket are a good size for my phone and knife. The two normal hip pockets are a little small for my liking, but only just. I've only had them a few hours so I can't attest to the durability yet, but if they are half as sturdy as my taclight pros I expect them to last for years. Finally a pair of jeans that can handle my EDC.
These jeans are comfortable, fit the legs very well not too tight in the legs or thighs and really great pockets
I'm not military or SWAT or EMT, but I am a Krav Maga student for the past four years. The clothing I wear to train is designed to move with me. However, most jeans limit our range of motion especially in the crotch. These are the exception. They are comfortable and don't make you regret crouching down or throwing a kick. If you're a martial artist and looking for something better you have found it.
I am a writer for Wide Open Spaces and worked with Backbone media to test a pair of these jeans out. I get to test a lot of cool products but I've never directly gone to the website to write a personal review. These jeans are extremely...BEYOND comfortable. I hate to admit that I should be in a 38 now but I ordered a 36x32 and put these one. The little "stretch" that they did is amazing. I have put these on at night instead of sweatpants just because they are comfortable. I own plenty of high end jeans as well as my fair share of Wal Mart jeans, but these will replace them all!
It's a good jean, great fit feels good but for $69.99 the front pocket could be deeper and not shallow. Definitely needs some revision....
Really good jeans . Extra deep watch pocket , and the mag pockets are perfect for my phone. Seem durable and stretch nice when crouching so you don't blow out the crotch. I'd give 5 stars but the dye runs like you wouldn't believe. My advise is wash twice alone then every time you wash them turn them inside out.
