I am kind of a big guy so the coat does come above my duty belt. Going g hoe my belly is out. However it keeps you warm and keeps you dry when it rains.
I have owned this jacket for a few years now and I have to say that this is by far the best jacket I have ever owned. I absolutely love the fact that it is cut short to ride just right above my duty belt. The pockets are fleece lined to help keep my hands warm when it's cold. When it rains the water runs right off. When it's cold I keep the liner zipped in and when it's hot but raining I just take the liner out and it doesn't get too hot to wear. I have recommended this jacket to several fellow officers and all who have gotten one love it just as much as I do. I would highly recommend this jacket to anyone looking for a great duty jacket.
the best jacket ever
I am a Security Officer in the UK and was looking for a Decent jacket to accompany the rest of my uniform. The one i was issued was not fit for purpose.
I havd bought boots from 5.11 before (A.T.A.C 8" Side Zip Public Order Boots)and i was (Am)very happy with them so i thought i would see what the other products are like.
In all fairness to 5.11, the website does'nt do the jacket justice, for one of their basic jackets this is better than the leading brands i can get back here, loads of room and pleanty of pocket space, it's waterproof and breathable, which as everyone who works in Law Enforcement and Security knows is a must.
One of the best things about this jacket for me is the fact i can wear a duty belt comfortably with this jacket and i have easy access to equipment. Well done 5.11
The next thing for me i think is the 5 point breakaway vest.
I recently Picked this Jacket up for my Job, I work as a Drawer Fill Tech/Armed Escort and with the cold weather coming, I needed something that was easy to wear and would keep me warm and dry with the cold weather and rain that is coming, I had suggested this jacket to several people in law enforcement in my area and they have bought this great jacket as well
This jacket serves me well in my job as a security officer. It keeps me warm on the cold wet days here in Michigan around winter time. This jacket will also make a great spring jacket during bike patrol.
I was issued one of these jackets by my company about 6 months ago. In that time, I've worn it through multiple snowstorms, sideways rain, freezing fog and sub-freezing temperatures.
The pitzips are great for letting a little air in. The liner is lightweight and compact but still really helps with warmth. Without the liner the jacket is a great shell. The plethora of pockets really helps to keep gear organized.
There are only two problems with this jacket. One, the BBS document pockets on the chest, which are huge, BTW, will sometimes get hung up on their own velcro closures. Not a performance issue, just a minor thing.
The other problem is that, atleast for me, the back of the jacket tends to ride up while driving and walking. More than once in a shift I've had to reach back and pull down the elastic waistband.
That being said, I LOVE this jacket, and I might buy my own in a different color since I can't wear uniform items while off work. This jacket is awesome.
