I have owned my spear point 511 for a year now. Best all around knife I have ever owned. I take it to fancy dinner on the town with my lovie and to the woods. ALWAYS. I use it in the dirt water snow and rain. Always performs. Everyone always asks what and where. When they see it. Super sturdy.
as with all 5.11 products this knife is perfect, the feel is like an extension of your hand the blade is surprisingly versatile it opens and closes effortlessly almost without thinking about it. it has become my everyday carry blade,
I've used this knife around camp and at work for kitchen activites.
I got the knife free for buying a pair of 5-11 Trainer shoes. I carry the knife on my MOAB 10 pack. I've been pleased with all of the 5-11 products. Even though they all have been imported, they're durable and made of quality materials.
small and exquisite,nice colour.
For what it cost, it really should be made in the USA, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, or Japan. There are other offerings from other manufactures that are of similar design that are domestically produced, but in the end, they just are not as well-made as this one. 5.11 Doesn't hide the fact that it's imported, so I won't hold that against them.
The oxide coating is very durable. It's very ergonomic, easy to open and close, and holds a very good edge. I use it as daily carry knife and am more concerned about losing it than damaging it.
To sum up, 9/16th's of the price is in the name, but it's still not a bad deal.
I use this knife for everything.i use it when im on patrol with an officer when I'm Home and don't have the tool I need at hand, when i fish and hunt. Love the way its designed it's comforable and easy to flip open and closed. One thing I noticed is that the blade knicked real easy when I used the knife to to take a couple tacks out of a drawer.
I employ this knife for a variety of EDC jobs. I originally purchased this knife because I was visting family in a state with no CWP and stringent knife policies. I wanted something with me besides my teeth and good looks. The blade is short enough to be legal in most places yet wide enough (spearpoint) to still be defensively effective. Great knife for everyday jobs too. The blade opens smoothly even after a year and a half of tough use. It's light enough you won't think about it until you need it. The clip screws will come loose, locktite will provide a solution. I intentionally removed mine because I like to carry it in my jacket pocket where it rides quite nicely Get it! You won't regret it. Better knife than expected for the money.
Wasn't planning on buying this knife when I went to the store, but a new daily carry blade was on the backburner. Compared to some of the other blades, the price was right. Its been a great daily carry blade, use it all the time, there are times when its just not heavy enough for some tasks, but if it will do the job, it does it flawlessly!
