The Fast-Tac TDU pants are a great value. You get all of the durability, comfort & quality as with the standard 5.11 TDU (ripstop or cotton twill) at a fraction of the price. The "Fast-Tac" material is very comparable to a "RipStop" material. These pants are very lightweight & some might refer to them as "thin", but I am highly satisfied with product & recently ordered a 2nd pair.
They're great pants, definitely can be pass as work slacks. The only down side is when you walk they sound like wind breaker pants.
The quality isn't bad, just frustrated with how big they are. I wear a 32x34 normally, so that's what I ordered, but the length feels like a 36 or even 38. Also they took forever to ship.
I bought one of the fast-tac urban pants to try it out (see that review) and liked them.
I wanted more, but they were sold out in my size in most colors, so I bought two of these.
Basically, identical, but with more tactical features. Added cargo pockets, flaps on the rear pockets, reinforcement in critical areas, more robust belt loops, areas for optional kneepads.
Aside from that, same great lightweight fabric, and great rugged feel, and the waistband is great.
"cell phone" pocket fits either of the devices I carry, which is a welcome change.
Only gripe is that the "removeable" leg drawstrings are only removable with scissors. But I can tolerate that.
