I have larger thighs and have trouble finding pants that don't restrict mobility. These pants are perfect in that respect. I can even comfortably wear a base layer underneath and don't feel restricted. The heavy weight makes them great for the field in the winter months. It took me a while to find these pants. Please don't get rid of them.
These pants would be great!
Would be... If! If they came in a size fit for those of us that are normal sized. Many call us Tall; just not big.
I have a 35" Waist and need a 36" Inseam. I can wear pants with a 36" with a belt, and be quite comfortable. I cannot, will not, wear pants that are too short; I did enough of that when I was a child and teenager. Not going to do when I have to pay for the privilege of wearing your clothing, considering that you have other styles of slacks and cargo pants that would fit me properly.
I'll give you a better rating
these are great. I like the double stack pockets won't buy the 2.0. I finally find a great pair of pants and you discontinue them. same as the coverts. I want the regular ones won' but the 2.0 because want the inner pockets
Out of all the 5.11 pants I have these Kodiaks are my Favorite...they feel so tough I believe they could actually deter injury from a knife. Too hot for me during the Summer perfect in cooler months.
These are probably the first pants I've ever put on and liked immediately. They're heavy, tough, perfect fit and very flexible. A lot of my work involves bending, kneeling or running- these pants bend in all the right places without binding or tugging on my sidearm. A touch on the warm side in hot weather, but that's to be expected for heavy canvas. Hot is better than surprise ventilation.
And pockets! Deep pockets galore, just what tactical pants need without the tacticool stigma associated with other styles of pockets. I admit to occasionally forgetting which pocket entries lead to my phone and keys, though.
I've had a pair of these pants for a couple of weeks and they've become my new favourite off duty, general wear and plain clothes ops pants.
Though made of incredibly heavy duty cotton canvas the articulated knees and gusset crotch make them incredibly comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. Loads of pockets make discreetly carrying everything from a small - medium frame auto, cuffs, Asp batton & gloves very easy indeed.
I especially like the fact that these pants don't have 'traditional' thigh pockets. This makes the Kodiak pants less obviously "tactical" and in combination with the subdued colours makes it very easy to blend in to the background in pretty much any situation. Wearing these you certainly won't stand out as being 'tacticool' in any way which in my opinion is a big plus.
Finally, despite the heavyweight fabric these pants aren't anywhere near as hot as I'd imagined they were going to be and are comfortable to wear on anything other than the hotest of days. I'm very impressed and will certainly be buying more pairs.
The only things I'd like to see would be a wider range of lengths and possibly 500D cordura for the actual inside of the pockets to make them even tougher. Other than that, a superb pair of pants.
My weight is 110 kg (about 240 pounds), height is 184 cm (about 6 feet), so I have some muscle on legs to carry those heavy bones.
Kodiak pants just feel right for me, that down-to-ankle gusseted crotch allows some swift movement (like running upstairs/uphill) and that pockets and extra durability are never bad.
Some extra weight is not really a problem when it adds to my own.
If you're one heavy built person that is still able to move realy fast, theese are pants for you.
These pants are awesome. They run a bit large. I normally wear 34s and the 32s fit fine. They are much heavier than normal tactical pants. But they are incredibly comfortable. The ONLY complaints I have about these are that the price is a bit high and I would prefer the normal snap at the top that most 5.11 pants use.
These are awesome pants. As stated before they are pretty heavy. And they do seem to run a bit larger than normal 5.11 tactical pants. I wear a 34 and the 32s fit great. My only concerns are the price and whether the button - which is not a snap like the other tactical pants - will hold up over time.
I bought a pair at the 5.11 store in Fresno when I was in town on business. I wore them several times and was so impressed I ordered two more pairs online. These are the most comfortable pants I've ever worn!
