The comments about it running a little small are true. Look to get about 1/2 size larger. Size isn't an issue to me as long as I know what I run which always seems to vary company to company.
My big concern was how well they hold up because they don't appear to be sturdy at all. Appearances can be deceiving though, and that's the case with this boot. I put roughly 30+ miles per week for about a year on these boots without a problem. None of the heavy use started to show until well after 1500 miles or so. Now, a year 1/2 later they are starting to fall apart from the abuse - but honestly I haven't run into too many boots that will hold up that long, especially lighter boots that aren't being rotated. These boots were comfortable the entire time, both in snow (with thermal socks and above 0) and heat, and were light enough that I never really paid them much attention.
If you need something that can take abuse, this boot will do it. Just make sure you go at least 1/2 a size up and you'll be good to go.
I had to return these boots. I wear a 13 and these were extremely narrow and very uncomfortable. Everything else about the boot seemed great, but unfortunately if I can't wear them, all the other features don't matter.
5.11 Staff, please consider making this boots in a Wide option. Thanks.
This shoe was incredibly comfortable right out of the box. I ordered my typical size and they fit perfectly. They are sturdy and durable like a boot, but are also light and flexible in the toes like sneakers. This makes them my go-to footwear for just about anything active including everyday work wear, hiking, camping, and hunting. I hope 5.11 continues to supply the range master boot, it is a great product that certainly lives up to the description!
you better order 2 sizes larger
Have had these shoes for about 2 months now. I have walked trails, hiked, and wore them at the gym. I am pleased with them. Sizing im normally an 11 but I got the 11.5 as the store didn't have an 11 and they still fit great! Also there was no break in needed they were comfy from day one and I like the ankle support.
only been 2 months but so far so good. Price could be a little lower but what couldn't.
Not sure why this boot/shoe has a lot of bad reviews. I personally love this shoe. It sits just above your ankle so i'd call it more of a shoe, but it fits great i wear a size 14 and it fit perfectly. I'm a rock climber and a mountaineer, and I bought these for approach shoes as they call it. I use these to hike to my locations to climb. Very grippy, comfortable and good support. I've had them for a month now and so far so good. I use these to rappel in as well. They do the job. I would definitely recommend these to anyone.
Out of all the Boots i have worn from 5.11 holy crap! Really disappointed in this boot which was really narrow for some reason. The damn thing tore on the side after like two weeks of forcing myself to wear them.
Iv'e had 5 pairs of 5.11 boots and a pair of tactical trainers. The boots were comfortable out of the box and never had any discomfort at all. This pair i could barely get on and there was no way i was walking in them. I don't know any grunts with feet built this girly.
What is the deal with these shoes being so narrow? And what's the deal with everyone using "to" for "too" narrow? Learn to use proper grammar people. These really are so narrow I couldn't even get my foot in and I do not have a wide foot. I have never bought a wide before but wish these came in a wide.
This is the best looking shoe. However, this is the worst fitting shoe I've ever put on my feet. they are way to narrow. 5.11, needs to keep the shoe because the style is awesome, but really needs to work on the sizing. They are really uncomfortable.
