I am an air conditioning tech. I'm 6'2" 250 lbs. I am on ladders and pitched roofs every day. The temps here are well over a hundred in the summer.
OTHER SHOES IVE TRIED FAILED me in these conditions. The arch wasn't supportive enough for ladder rungs and would hurt my feet. The glue would separate in the heat. The soles weren't stable, and it felt that my ankle would roll on the pitched roof. The material was weak and would rip easily.
NOT THIS SHOE!!
Comfortable right out of the box. The cut of shoe is just right for foot flexibility, without sacrificing stability.
Shoe holds up in extreme heat (110 degrees ambient) feet stay relatively cool.
Even on heavily pitched roofs, this shoe feels stable.
The shoes arch support is strong and holds up well on ladder rungs.
I spend 12-14 hours a day in these shoes, sometimes in wet conditions. They are not prone to odor and they are a good looking shoe.
Pet peeve- I hate my pant leg to tuck under my shoe tongue. This shoe has a low profile tongue that stays close to the foot and doesn't grab my pant leg every time I sit.
Thanks for reading. You won't be disappointed in this shoe.
Opposite of "High-performance". After the break in the shoe was great, then six months later the sole of the shoe started separating right off. Nothing last forever but I figured, they would of lasted at least a year. Unless you're getting a free pair stay away!
just got them so I will update in time , overall nice shoe .this is my second pair of 5.11 shoes.
I wear a 10.5 m in everything I got a pair of the Pursuit in 11 fit ok but snug .went a full size up to 11.5 with the Ranger and I glad I did it fits like a 10.5 .
So far so good been raining had no slip issues and they are still quiet and don't squeak when you get into the store. As far a arch support for me I am not having any issues as of yet .
I purchased these and wore them for about a week. I realized after day 1 that they had ZERO arch support. I purchased some soles with arch support at Walmart and they still didn't fix the issue. I thought about buying the nice $50 Dr Scholl's insoles but I decided I shouldn't have to pay $50 to make an already $80 pair of shoes comfortable. So, I returned them. Construction seemed fine for the week that I wore them. I feel like, for the price, it's a poor design though.
Very comfortable shoe, the rugged and aggressive soles make me feel like I am floating around and walking on clouds. The ortholite insoles feel amazing to my feet. I've run these aggressively in the field and on the range and they're still holding up perfectly. Definitely will be picking up another pair in a different colorway
Extremely good hightly recomended.
These shoes were very rough at first during the break in period. The tongue was stiff and would cut into my ankle and hurt after a long days work. - - Once broken in they were great. Comfortable and breath well. But, after daily use they started to show wear fast. The inside sole and achilles area all have but worn away into holes. The outer toes material have also worn away with seperation at the soles. Dissapointing from what is suppose to be a good brand...
Purchased these shoes for plain clothes wear. After 3 months of wearing less than 40 hours a week, and minimal walking, the sole of the shoe has seperated right the the flex points like a cheap pair of dock shoes. Not what ive come to expect from 5.11. Find another pair.
From the get go the shoe feels like the seams were molded with a pebble in it at the lace to toe area, and the shoes arch collapses like a french man in a fight with a German. I'm normally impressed with 5.11 products but the design and quality gremlins obviously had a party with this shoe!
After less than six months wearing these regularly on duty they are falling apart. I walk about 8 miles a day on my regular patrols, mainly on blacktop, and while these have been comfortable they are no detaching at the sole.
