I am actually an athletic trainer, and I knew about 5.11 because of my husband. He's a paramedic. I knew I didn't want to buy a typical AT bag because they are ridiculously expensive.
I found this bag and thought it would work for what I needed and I love it so far. I've only had it 4 days but I am able to organize it so easily. Even my students say that it's awesome. Since I don't carry oxygen, I use the garage for splints and padding, it works great!
Bought the bag as a personal jump kit for my car. I like the back pack style configuration and for the most part I can fit everything I need in it. None of the pockets are really long enough for a cervical collar (I just crammed it in with the O2 bottle. It's tight but works)
Great level of customization available, you can easily set every pouch in this back to your exact specifications.
Only other wish is that the buckles on the shoulder straps were made of metal, the ones joining the straps to the bag are, seems like they got lazy and just threw some cheep plastic ones on. One broke the other day, a quick call to customer service and a new one is on the way.
I just got this bag and it is awesome. I was worried about having room for everything, especially C-collars and BVMs, but the collars fit nicely in the garage with the O2 and BVMs can fit in the side pocket perty nicely. The interior pockets are awesome, it's just sometimes I wish they were bigger to better hold stuff. Overall a great bag that I would highly recommend to anybody serious about first response EMS.
We just received 5 of the BLS units and love them with one exception, no shoulder straps. Even though it has the "D" rings for one.
Sturdy bag, zippers function well even in snowy, icy environment. O2 cylinder pocket is really nice - don't have to dig tank out from under everything else when you need it, but out of the way when you don't. Easy to organize/compartmentalize all your supplies (airway, splinting, trauma, etc.). The biggest problem with this bag is that there is no good way to carry a c-collar in the bag - it's just a little too short, and the compartments make it hard to fit large supplies in the bag. (but you can shove a c-collar in the O2 compartment).
I have had this bag for several months and have used in on numerous calls. The bag holds everything I need and keeps everything well organized. I actually used this bag(as my weighted backpack) to complete a PT session with the Marines. 3.5 miles later and over 300 exercises, the bag was still comfortable!
BOUGHT AT DEALER SHOW AND LOVE ALL THE STORAGE. GREAT HEAVY DUTY BAG AND HAS 02 STORAGE.
I am and emt-b and i find this bag extremely useful to carry in my pov. Plently of room for any bls and even has the o2 holder. I LOVE this bag.
