Was really looking forward to using this knife. Seemed like a simple yet effective tool great for the task I intended it for. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to use it to confirm my first impressions of it. The knife sheath it came with fell apart while I was carrying it without my knowledge. I retraced my steps through the day and was unable to locate it. It fell apart after less than 12hours of carrying it. So again couldn't really tell you much about the knife but can tell you to make sure you check the screws that hold the mount to the sheath. Maybe 5.11 should think about a loctite on the hardware and I should have checked their tightness I guess. I figured right out of the box it should of been good to go
Good alternative to a rescue style folding knife and cheaper.
Single handed operation. Has better and more secure mounting features than a folding knife with clip.
5.11 need to offer it in a hi-viz colour or luminescence. Almost impossible to find if dropped in the field or off a roof at night.
A glass breaker at the base of the handle would add to its versatility.
just picked it up today very well built the only thing is the sheath is really tight but with some breaking in it shouldn't be a problem.
vary nice knife the aus8 is a better steel due to the fact it has a high content of chromium, and vanadium. also I only have to sharpen it only a few times a month. the seat belt cutter has a great edge, and the serrations are great at not clogging up that pointed serrations. however it takes some use to deploy it faster once you have learned then you will be a pro.
Knife works great. I have read some reviews about loose holster and it doesn't work with boots etc etc etc. I have not found this to be the case. It fits perfectly in the concealed pocket on my 5.11 ATAC Shield boots. I use the velco that is provided just to ensure retention. The draw is smooth if you place your thumb on the sheath and rock back like it was designed. Perfect if your in the ground fighting position or trapped in your vehicle.
During a recent ground fight with a suspect my 5.11 boot knife fell out of the sheath. When I got back to the station I noticed it was gone from my boot. We went back to the scene and we were unable to locate it. I am sure someone picked it up since it is a nice knife. Overall this is a good knife and I would recommend it to anyone. Just be cautious of loosing it from the sheath.
I purchased this to replace a similar product from another company that I lost at work.
The design of the knife is great, and has more features, including a stronger straight edge blade then my other one.
I've found that the grooves in the handle allow for paracord to be wrapped around as a grip, and I like that.
Hook knife is sharp and works well, i've used it multiple times before.
O2 wrench fits every bottle i've tried, contrary to reviews i've read in other sources.
Sheath fits the pocket in my 8 inch Taclite boots, and if you take care to click it into place, it will NOT come out accidentally (Which is how I lost my previous knife)
But there is a HUGE design flaw.
I CANNOT draw it cleanly. No matter what I try, the hook section gets caught up on the sheath, requiring an awkward rocking motion to draw.
I think in an emergency if I need to get to it immediately, this would cause an unacceptable delay, and i'm not too happy with that.
Beyond that, great product.
This is a very capeable well thought out rescue tool that wont let you down.
I love this knife only downside is with the ATAC boot, it is designed for the removal of knife from sheath is very difficult without removing it completely from boot, but still performs as it describes love it oxgen key is perfect.
Fits perfectly in my A.T.A.C. boots, I carry it around when I fly, hopefully I will never have to use it.
