Im very disappointed that a company like 5.11 would put velcro on the chest pockets of a soft shell jacket and give somewhere for wind and precipitation to get inside the jacket so easily especially for what this jacket cost it should have zippers , Furthermore the collar needs to be higher so it will actually protect your neck or lay down when you don't need it to stand up as it is now it really does neither. The only reason i gave it 2 stars instead of 1 is because it does seem to be well made and does block the wind good to be so thin (besides those pathetic velcro chest pockets of course).
I picked up this jacket at their Commerce warehouse sale for $30. For that price I feel like I got my money worth, it is extremely comfortable and keeps me at a good temperature, not too hot, not too cold.
Has anyone ever tried to draw a firearm from the Rapid draw passthrough? Not unless you plan to do an extreme 12 o'clock carry. Will not work with appendix carry unless you want to look like your reaching for a weapon. I love the jacket but as I am a CCW permit holder and have been held up at gunpoint once this is not the jacket to allow me to carry IWB. Have taken to carrying in the pocket in pocket holster and I hate doing that when I wear this jacket. I do like the upper chest pockets so I can store my phone where a would be criminal might overlook it. As I live in a rather dangerous section of north Philadelphia it is almost a guarantee that I will need to access my weapon at some time. Not so tactical, but still a very nice jacket. Go Xl as anything smaller was built for slight Asian frame male.
This XL is a tighter fitting jacket in the chest and a little more loose around waist for me (I'm 6'4" 260lbs 38" waist). Other XL 5.11 jackets are larger on me. This one's best for off-duty as it doesn't have any unifrom features and has the tight fit so body armor wouldn't fit if you buy your normal jacket size. I tried on an XXL and it fit me like a bell. The jacket is very lightweight when compared to other bonded poly fleece jackets. The bad thus far is only the price.
I bought this jacket about month ago. I like it alot and I have gotten a lot of compliments about it. However, it didn't prove it's worth till last night. We were riding through a typhoon last night and I had anchor watch for 6 hours on the bow. Despite 60 knots winds and rain I stayed warm and comfortable. The jacket is strong, well made and comfortable. I would recommend it strongly.
The jacket is more than what I expected. Lots of pockets, I can store anything. The fabric is great for outdoors.
