The gripping on the palm and fingertips works well with a leather lead, but with nylon, good luck.. After a few strong pulls from the dog, the lead burned straight through the glove and right into my hand. The rubber backing along the knuckles/back of hand didn't take much longer to start falling off, either. Overall, these gloves are better than using your bare hands, but not by much.
GREAT WHEN YOU HAVE A SMALL K9... NOT MY CASE.
THEY TORE UP SO QUICKLY. SO MUCH FOR A YEAR WARRANTY.
Good gloves, they are sized small, get one size bigger. The wrist Velcro wears out very fast. Make your hands feel solid, good to keep your hands safe during an arrest. Good protection for the knuckles, palm, and fingertips.
I bought these gloves in hopes of using them for both K9 work as well as routine patrol. When I received them, I realized they are a bit bulky for routine patrol work. I prefer not to lose the "touch" of a thin glove. The grip is great and the glove is everything they say it is. I will have to find a thinner glove for patrol work. - Also, the grip is NOT soft to the touch and the back of the glove is hard rubber... nowhere to wipe your nose on a cold night! I would suggest this product if youre looking for a working glove to hold onto your leads.
worked well for line handling with dog but would not use them for evac as worried that loose velcro tab would get caught
Ordered Large for husband. Needs at least a XXL, which is too bad because he really wanted these!
I run nylon long leads for tracks/area searches and after 3 months I already have holes in the fingers from working the leads. The stitching is starting to fall apart also. I can't speak for usage with leather leads but if you use nylon forget it.
