Decent 36W shorts that's true to fit.
Washed in warm water and dried in warm setting and it shrunk just a little around the waist as it stretches about 1 inch.
Wished it had a shorter 7" if not 5" inseam!
The left front side pocket does NOT fit an encased iPhone 5S as it's meant to hold a mag clip.
The side cargo pockets are Smaller than the pant's pockets though everything else is almost the same as the ripstop pants.
It's more lightweight than the Tru-Spec shorts and fits much better, though the side and rear pockets need to be roomier and need a wallet pocket. The side cargo pockets are actually Smaller than the Pant's pockets!
The Tru-Spec shorts have the rear pocket cover flaps which is Much better in design.
The velcro needs to be replaced with buttons so it's more quiet!
It's easier to move around in these shorts due to the design and light weight and the short's length does scrunch up which is actually a good thing on hot/humid days.
Buy when it's on sale as it Is Expensive!
The 5.11 Taclite ripstop shorts look and fit very similarly to the 5.11 Taclite ripstop pants.
Ordered 36W and it's relatively true to size though a little tight that it stretches. The elastic waist will stretch about 1/2 inch on each side so it'll go up to a 37W.
The short's side cargo pockets and the back pockets are actually smaller than the pants' versions. A wallet fits better in the side cargo pockets than the rear pockets.
Washed/dried in warm setting and no shrinkage and hopefully it won't shrink in the future except in the inseam length ;)
The inseam needs to be shorted to ~7 inches as the shorts are relatively long. The khaki color didn't run.
The left side front pocket is too small as it barely fits an encased iPhone 5 (most likely meant to hold a mag clip) while the right side front pocket fits it but just barely, similar to the pant's version. The side pockets need to be moved Upward and made Roomier esp. that left side mag pocket to fit a smartphone.
The 'signature' right rear cord really needs to disappear as it has no practical value for everyday usage.
The shorts relatively better and more lightweight than the similar Tru-Spec shorts. Hopefully, it'll be durable and last a few years.
Best to buy when it's on sale like towards the end of summer as 5.11 clothing Is pricey!
I don't like the elastic in these shorts. The elastic combined with the rough texture means these shorts rub on my skin in a bad way. I need to wear an undershirt, or tucked-in shirt to be comfortable in these shorts.
The cell phone pocket is great for a smaller phone such as iPhone 5... but my Samsumg S6 doesn't fit in it.
I love the Large rear-thigh pocket and side pockets
The 5.11 Tactical Operator Belt is too thick to fit under these belt loops where it's vercroed down. The belt loops need to allow for a thicker (not wider) belt.
When the belt doubles-over itself it wont fit inside the belt loops.
These are undeniably fantastic BDU shorts. Great for job/activity specific and casual usage alike. I love them and have several pairs and colors. Some for work and some for everyday use. All I ask is you offer a few more colors. A lighter blue, perhaps slate would be readily consumed. They also make great painters shorts as well, by the way. Offer white too?
Best I have used.
These are nice shorts, but are lacking all the color options of other 5.11 products. Where is the Battle Brown and Storm?
I have been wearing 5.11 pants for some time. Tried the Taclite shorts before purchasing Taclite pants. My next pants will be 5.11 Taclite.
The comfort waist is great for those a bit portly like myself. Very comfortable. good pocket arrangement, size and number. Great shorts for work and play.
Taclite material is much better than the cotton version. These shorts are very comfortable and breath well. I will buy some more.
My husband loves these shorts they are the only ones he will wear. He wore them when he was a police officer and now that he is retired he still prefers these to wear when working around the house or running errands.
