When I these came in, I realized they're the wrong material for my uniform and I can't wear them. I'm very disappointed, since they're wildly comfortable!
I'm 5'4" and 130lb and the size 6 fits me perfectly. I only gave them 4 out of 5 stars because I have to return them and won't be able to test their durability. But what I've seen of them has been good.
These are a great approved alternative to our ill-fitting issued uniform pant - great for every-day operations and training. The navy color matches seamlessly with our agency's uniform. They are durable and hold their color and integrity in the laundry, and I appreciate the inner sections in the cargo pockets. My only gripe is that the inseam is rather short - I am not a tall woman, only 5'6", and I should have ordered the "tall" length. With the regular length, my entire boot shows when I sit and they kind of look like flood pants. The waist is forgiving - the same size has fit me give or take 5-10lbs. Note that they do sit lower on the waist/hips - I prefer this, some people don't.
I love these pants. They are super comfortable and fit perfectly.
I have been buying these pants for years. The first pair I bought about seven or eight years ago, and they are just now wearing out to the point I'm considering not wearing them to the office. I have something like seven pairs at this point, and I pretty much don't wear anything else.
That said, 5.11 keeps changing them:
-The original pants were perfect.
-The next generation changed the pocket dividers, making it harder to carry concealed. They also came with much longer and bulkier blousing straps, but those could be cut off.
-The most recent generation (end of 2012), in addition to the last features changes I didn't like, made the last three pairs of pants unwearable for me. The waistband is bulky and stiff, and much looser. it is at least 2-3 inches bigger around on all three pairs, even though I ordered the same size as always (small, 27.5"-31"). I usually wear a belt to cinch things snug, but the waist band is so stiff, that is impossible without leaving the snap undone.
I am selling these pants to someone who wears the next size up. I'm going to try the XS, but if those don't fit, I'll have to find another brand.
I've tried the women's versions, since I am female, but those only come in ripstop, which I have a pair of and don't like. The twill is an awesome material . . . why isn't it available for women's TDU?
I wish 5.11 would bring the old design back.
Very nice fitting pants.
Pants were way too bulky and didn't sit well on my waist. The elastic stretch in the waistband also makes the waist too bulky and uncomfortable.
I wear these pants for my security job that is outside by the water where it can be warm during the day but very cold and breezy at night. The pockets are great and the waist band is very comfortable.
I really like the pants...the lower half fits well and gives alot of mobility even with a duty belt on. I work in the backcountry doing LE and I needed a rugged pair of pants and they so far have fit the bill.
MAJOR CON is that I had to buy one size up from my regular sized pants to get them to fit my hips. And the larger size waist is WAY to big. I had to cut the elastic and sew over the edges to make the waist fit and shrink it down about 4 + inches. I like 5.11 pants but I dont think I will be buying any more until they make a pant that fits women that have curves. it seems to me that the pant styles are for girls with no hips.
I bought these pants for my clinicals for EMT-B and I love them! I didnt know how well they would fit, but they fit perfectly. The only complaint I have about these pants is that they collect lint like no other!
