I would've given these shirts 3 stars last year, but the quality got much better in the last few batches. Had to find alternative to old BlackHawk shirts since they got rid of them and these were it. Sleeve length is perfect for my short sleeve uniform shirt and length stays tucked in very nicely throughout my shifts. Some have said that the shirts were fraying after some use, my first few ones did and only because the shoulder velcro attachments were exposed. Fixed it with clear packaging tape and now the shirts are fine. Later batches are a little thicker and have helped the quality of the material. Collar stays pretty flat and tight. Stays cool and wicks sweat away good during the hot/humid Virginia summers. Definitely recommend for those that have wear body armor on a daily basis.
Pretty good alternative to compression shirts from other brands. Good value, but with some flaws. The neck is too large and results in downsizing. Mesh panel in the armpit can be irritating. The body of the shirt also needs to be two inches longer and comes untucked easily under one's uniform and bunches up.
I would recommend the muscle mapping or loose crew shirts instead, especially under body armor as the fabrics in those two shirts are much more comfortable.
They're not kidding when they say this thing is tight. I am a medium in any kind of shirt, but this is a stretch. I own other tight breathable undershirt t-shirts like this from other companies and I understand they're supposed to be tight, but I could barely put this on. Still, it is pretty comfortable once you get it in place. I would recommend buying a size up from what you're used to. Don't plan on wearing this on its own; your nipples, tattoos, chest hair, etc are all clearly visible through it. I haven't had it long, but it was comfortable and breathable under my uniform. I am worried that over time, it will develop some serious pit stains, because the shirt stretches tight all the way up into my armpits. Speaking of pits, they are a lightweight mesh which allows better ventilation in there.
Overall, I like the construction of the shirt and may try out a large, but I will probably just go back to UnderArmour. One big thing about this shirt, the price is excellent!
I use the tight crew shirt when I'm wearing my shoulder holster. Feels great. Everything I have bought from 5.11 has exc eeded my expectations and I will be purchasing from them again.
I bought four of these shirts about 3 weeks ago, one for each work day. The shirts fit well and feel good under my vest. My problem is, after only washing them a handful of times I noticed the fabric is already falling apart. All four shirts are worn in the same general area, on or around the seam on the front of the shirt, where my shoulder blades are. After reading all the positive reviews, I feel like I must have gotten a bad batch. For the amount I spent, definately not worth it.
i use for workout and running.
the shirts provide a comfort and remove sweat off my body. i only wish i could have more of these for every day of the week that i work out so i can avoid washing them over and over again...
Exactly what it says it is. It's the perfect undershirt for your ballistic vest.
I wear these shirts under my uniform in the summertime. They help cool me down specially when there is a breeze.
As a former Police Officer and still working in an enforcement role this undergarment is a must and recommended for field use. I have now used it in cold and very hot conditions and worn a standard cotton undergarment to compare. This product is great. I would suggest one shift use only and allow to dry on an airing rack. I wash it with uniform shirts and use a fabric conditioner. No odour problems or retention int he garment.
Costly but worth every penny
