I wear these pants as a full time EMT on the ambulance and just WISH they would make them for women with curves! They fit well in the waist but always to tight in the hips.. Order a size up if you want a little room in the hip area, but be prepared for them to be to big in the waist of you do so. Frustrating!
I love these pants. The waist is neither too high or too low, and they have enough room in just the right places... IF you find the right size. But seriously, order 2 sizes up from your normal one. The "long" ones are super long, but of course they can be hemmed.
They also hold up better than anything else I've tried. (As a full time paramedic, I've gone through a few pairs of tactical pants.)
I'll be sticking with this brand... now that I know to order an 18 instead of a 14!
I love these pants, I purchased them a 3rd party vendor and was glad I was able to try them on first. I am a fit female with a larger lower body and slimmer midsection so I had to order a size up. I am comfortable with the fit and despite their being bigger in the waist they don't bunch up with my belt. I am able to move freely without worrying about tearing or being uncomfortable. I would highly recommend these pants to other female first responders, and do quite regularly. Thank you 5.11 keep it up!!!
These pants are awesome. When I'm working on patients, I can move easily in them and they are durable. The only issue I have with them is the size chart. When I went to order the pants, I followed the size chart and ordered the size that was suggested, but it was a size or two too big and I had to get them tailored. I would suggest ordering a size smaller than what the size chart suggests.
I have had these pants for 2 years now. The BIGGEST complaint with them is the snap not staying closed! This is even a complaint from those that have lost weight and their pants are too big! They do shrink. I have the pair that are put away to use for ceremonies and such. I have recently had to pull those out for a visit from the President and there is a HUGE difference in size. They do fade some but we wear grey polos or light blue button up shirts so it is not that noticeable. Will I buy again? Depends if I can find another brand that has done better. PLEASE FIX THE SNAP!!!!
I need to use this product everyday, and it is exactly what I'm looking for.....except it doesn't fit. I will be returning this product. When I ordered it originally I ordered a size up, and even then it was about 4 inches too small in the waist. If you have a straight figure, you might be able to fit into it, otherwise ladies the hunt continues.
5.11 please keep in mind that women have hips. Men are straight, women are curvy. I am NOT the only one saying this, please adjust your sizing.
I'm 5'9", 135 pounds, an EMT on a rig. I'm fit, I'm trim, I have an athletic body shape. I bought the size 8 pants, I would normally wear a 4. They sit at the base of my ribcage, compressing my lungs. They ride up my crotch area showing off parts of my body that only gymnasts are comfortable with showing. The circumference of the legs is so oversized, I was afraid homeless people would start living under my pants. I had the legs professionally taken in, since I looked like MC Hammer. Unfortunately, having them taken in sealed up the pockets for the kneepads.
There were sharp edges around the waist from the plastic thread used to sew on the rubber.
Perhaps I should have purchased the men's pants, but I feel like this was a complete waste of $60.
So, undersized waist, oversized legs, pokey thread..
These pants were purchased for volunteer work as an EMT. They look almost black, but were supposed to be dark blue. Have not washed them yet.
I usually take a 12 pants, but bought a 14 and the waist is STILL snug. I had also hopled I was purchasing the ones that have a low riding waist, as they are a lot more comfortable. I don't have any others to compare it to, but I do not find these pants very comfortable and since MANY women are complaining on the web about the too small waist and how they like the lower rise pants, it seems that in this day and age, a company would pay attention to the reviews and redo the shape and fit for the customers. Women are not built the same as men.
I do not find these pants very comfortable, but the pockets are useful. They feel stiff and I am just not used to wearing stiff clothing.
The company really needs to redo it's design of these pants to enlarge the waist and make them so they hang just about 1/2 inch lower below the belly button.
They are made very well, and will hold up pretty well. Just wish they were a tad more comfortable and slightly less dark.
These are excellent pants, I'll never buy anything else. These are super comfortable, thanks to the flexible stretchy waistband that moves with me but doesn't gape. I love that these fit my curves without being too tight or too loose. They never look sloppy, they're color fast and they don't shrink when they're washed.
These pants are true to size; if you're normally an 8, get an 8. The waist is a little snug, but admittedly EMS has caused for me to gain a few unknown pounds. Excellent, durable pants. Beautiful dark navy color that matches most dark navy EMS company uniforms. Definitely recommended to buy.
