The waist is too low and the butt and hips are too baggy. They don't fit anything like the pants do. Returning them.
The tan pants fit me perfect, the tan shorts are 2 inches tighter! If it is a size 14 they should all be the SAME SIZE! Length shouldn't change the size at the waist or hips!!!
I was very unsure what size to order because I've seen reviews that state they run small, and others that state they run big. I went ahead and ordered using the sizing chart on 5.11's website. I'm 5'5" 125# with 36" hips and 26.5" waist. I ordered the 4's and they fit very well. They have a little extra room in the seat of the shorts but that's to be expected with tactical/cargo shorts. I love them! They'll be perfect for wearing to my archery shoots.
I've used these for day-to-day wear but plan on using them on Young Marine drill weekends during the summer.
Nice shorts, appear to be well made and feel that they would last for some time. Not designed for women who have a large 'dierriere' though - too tight in the crotch area and they rode too low at the waist line area.
I am a part time/volunteer career firefighter/EMT. I am required to have a specific uniform. For the longest time had a hard time finding shorts that fit right and the crotch was not low (as in mens shorts), and looked nice. These shorts hit the nail on the head. I finally found something that is comfortable, that fits true to size and looks professional. I am able to move around in them comforatbly. I would recommend these to any female that looks to buy them.
I really like these for hiking, quadding, going to the range, etc during summer. They're nice and light, the pockets are roomy and the stretch waistband is great for IWB carry. Love the knife pocket in the front too.
Fit wise I think there's a little too much room in "derriere" / thighs areas, but the fabric isn't stretchy so when you're pockets are fully loaded it makes sense.
