It's excellent for long hikes. You can wear for when your out in the field, or just for casual wear.
I have been wearing these boots in Corrections for about seven years and never had foot problems with them. The original XPRT's were a little better than the 2.0 but still the same and this is one boot that does not need time to break in.
Years ago while deployed, I bought a pair of XPRT 8" H2O boots in Coyote. They are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. Unfortunately, for the job I now have, my boots need to be black and those are no longer available. So I came here to order some boots hoping they would fit about the same. I love the style of the XPRT 2.0 Tactical Urban's, but they weren't quite what I was expecting. I have a wide foot. Unfortunately, the earliest size this boot was available wide was an 8.5. I wear a 4. I didn't think it would matter too much since my H2Os aren't wide. It does. The boot were pretty tight around my foot. Where the tongue connects to the inside of the boot is also very uncomfortable. It's quite a bit lower than the H2Os and rests right over my ankles on both sides. After two or three hours at work two nights ago and a full day yesterday, I can't wear them today because my ankles are bruised. And that's after leaving the lace completely loose at the top. Last, the sole. When I first put the boots on, they were sliding over the flat carpet at work. I kind of wondered how they were going to keep me from slipping. Then after walking around in them for a bit, I noticed that the bottoms looked dusty. I didn't think my warehouse was that dirty, but upon closer inspection, I realized that it was the black paint or something flaking off the bottoms of the boots. Not too big of a deal on the bottom, but the entire right toe is almost completely tan now and that's after only one day of wear. And on top of that, I am finding the black flakes all over my house and where I work. I think the stars on this one are about down to the looks at this point, unfortunately. :(
I purchased Desert Tactical boots in Wide after reading Review in RECOIL MAG about year ago, as I have EE SIZE. DESERT TACTICAL a bit narrow but great boot after some breaking and thin socks. Love speed lacing system and laces. Comfortable enough now if not on all day and I keep moving.
So I bought URBAN TACTICAL BLACK, also in WIDE. HOWEVER, still much more narrow after 6 mo and can't wear for long or feet hurt, tingle even with loose lacing, thin socks. Lacing much more difficult because no Spped system. Same style "locking" type laces, but have to take them in and out of, each keeper which are vertically oriented and sharp edged metal, and "catch" on laces. A real hassle to take on and off.
Why aren't these boots identical in sizing and lacing systems. "Advertised"as same boot except for color.
Agree with other review that 511 is INCONSISTENT IN SIZING. I purchased two other pair of shoes/boots in past, ordered my typical size (I'm 69 yo and do have my shoe size figured out!!) and couldn't even get my foot in those!!
No more mail order 511's for me. Too Bad, o/w quality products.
Great boot, fits just like all the other lines of 5.11 boots, very comfortable toes, soft leather, not too narrow or wide or stiff. Definitely recommend!!!!!
I love, love my XPRT 2.0 Tactical Urban Boot. I went with a Wide boot that was 1/2 size larger than I normally wear and the boots fit well. I highly recommend them!
I purchased these boots for use on patrol. After one night, my feet were killing me. The material used which is right above the toes is so hard and when bending down or squating, the material above the toes pinch or dig into the users foot. By far the most uncomfortable boots I have worn. I am disapointed as I have worn other 511 boots and loved them. These were suppose to be replacements for my XPRT boots, but the 2.0 has been a failure in my mind.
I have several different boots by 5.11. For the most part they are the most comfortable boots I have ever own. Except for the new line of boots. I have purchased and returned each of the new line of boots by 5.11 all for the same reason. They are not true to size.
5.11 Tactical Range Master Boot = Narrow and not true to size
5.11 Tactical Pursuit Advance 6 Inch Boot = Narrow and not true to size
5.11 Tactical XPRT 2.0 Tactical Urban Boot = Heavy and not true to size
I have spoken to LAPG and their customer service is fantastic. With their support I have purchased and returned boots with proper credit applied each time. I ended up purchasing another pair of 5.11 Tactical Advance Coyote.
I have had 2 ankle reconstructive surgeries with possible more surgeries in the future. I am wearing boots for the ankle, arch, and lower leg support. All of which I need now to be able to walk. I currently or have owned Bates, Bellavue, Merrell, Reebok, and New Balance. 5.11 is my personal favorite. I hope someone from 5.11 read this review, because I would like to start wearing more athletic style boots.
5.11 I own for all around ankle, arch, and lower leg support. I wear 6" on good days and I wear the 8" on the days I need more support.
5.11 Tactical Advance Coyote Brown Side Zip Boot, true to size, the most comfortable I have every owned
5.11 Tactical Haste Patrol Boot , true to size, Very comfortable
5.11 Tactical ATAC Boot 8", comfortable
5.11 Tactical ATAC 8" Sage Boot, comfortable
511 Tactical ATAC Boot 6" Low, comfortable
5.11 Tactical ATAC 8" Boot Coyote, comfortable
have had multiple other styles. no issues. never had a problem with 5.11 wide sized boots before. these were too narrow for wide size and extremely stiff.
This is a great boot but please try on a pair before ordering online. Fit is a little different than others seems a little narrow and maybe a tad long compared to other makes. But if you get a pair to fit they take about 1 shift to break in and then they are great. Price makes them a tough decision on would I buy again but I think by the time I have to consider that the price will be more in line with other imported boots. I can't stress that they seem very well constructed and durable. If on voucher system don't hesitate.
