The bag is made well, sturdy and practical. The biggest flaw are the bungees used to secure your rifle. Definitely a flawed design but after spending about $11 on a 10’ roll of double sided Velcro I was able to adapt and overcome. Hard to beat 5.11 quality. It’s definitely at a higher price point but I was able to get 20% off which made it a little easier to pull the trigger on (pun intended). Overall it’s a great bag!
I have 32" AR and a 22" AR. I made some adjustments to the bungee system and the VTAC MKII 36" works perfectly. I love the MOLLE for adding external storage so nothing is banging up the rifles. The shoulder straps are very comfortable and work way better than the 36" Shock Rifle Case.
My son purchased one of the original VTAC Rifle Cases about 5 years ago. I loved that case.
The MK II 36" case is not as good.
I did not like the fact that the bag is made in china and not advertised as such on the web site.
The bungee cord attachments to retain the rifle in the bag are not as good as the original bags attachment system.
There is no way to attach additional items inside the bag as it does not have hook/loop attachment material on the smooth interior material.
The interior of the case is smooth and slick. So if you want to attach mag cases or something inside the case you can't. The inside protective divider isn't very thick and the interior retention sleeves for the barrel and stock are single not double like the original case.
The retention sleeves are the material that is cut on a approximately 45 degree angle.
The stitching and assembly look fine.
I did an immediate RMA as I thought in the end the case to be very over priced for what you get, especially with it being made in china.
Sorry but this is not a $174.00 case.
