I got a pair from the Las Vegas store and wore them in Red Rock Canyon and the Spring Mountains. No break required. Good ankle support. Breathe decent. Comfortable. Good tread grip. After 10 miles of rough rocky terrain, no signs of wear. Only con so far is they're fairly soft and flexible, so after a while my feet felt a little banged up. Still, a great hiking boot, but quite a backpacking or mountain boot.
Wore the boots on a 10 day tour of Israel...Golan Heights, up Masada, Old City, West Bank. Very comfortable. Minimal break in needed. Love them
This is an awesome and very well made boot! Trust me when I say this boot runs 100% true to size. I followed the advice of the other review on here and ordered a 1/2 size smaller....what a dumb choice. Had to return and get my normal boot size. Don't hesitate to pick up a pair of these bad boys. Just order your actual size though..don't be an idiot like me.
I own four pairs of other 5.11 shoes. All size 11 reg. I have narrow feet and they all fit well. I have not hiked with these Cable Hikers but at first fit, I could have been ok with a half size to a full size smaller. The toe box is extra roomy. The heal is rigid and snug though. Not the same feel as my other 5.11 shoes/boots but looking forward to hitting a trail soon in these.
