I have been wearing these pants non-stop for roughly a month. I have been wearing them under my waders, in the field and around town; the Wyldcat Pant is the most versatile pant I have worn in years!
As for fit and function, I am 5'9'' and the long length hits well below the ankle. The stretch in fabric allows for easy movement for whatever activity you are doing. I would highly recommend this pant to any lady out there looking for an all around pant!
5.11, you have outdone yourself with the Wyldcat pants!! Never had I found tac pants that fit like jeans yet move with your body like yoga pants and STILL come with the functionality that I need. Job well done!! I and definitely ordering more!
I bought these because I needed pants that were functional in the field But wouldn’t stand out in an office. For the most part, these pants are excellent and the secondary front pocket has been a game changer. Considering that I’ve been fairly rough on them and washed them frequently, they’ve held up pretty well. They’re super soft and are form fitted but flexible enough not to impede my movements. I can’t rave enough about the pockets, they have made work so much easier. I do, however, have a couple of gripes about the pants. I’ve got four pairs of the black ones and one pair each of the khaki and grenade ones. The black pants for some reason seem more durable, but the color does fade around the seams and hems. The grenade one seem to be made of less durable material as there is already some wear on the inner thighs and I haven’t had them for more than a few months. The khaki ones are pretty damn decent for khakis, they’re heavy enough not to show most underwear lines or cellulite. Stain wise, I’m impressed with both the khaki and the grenade pants. They have stood up to blood, purge fluid, oil, gasoline, heavy duty cleaning chemicals, dirt/mud and pretty much everything else I come into contact with. The zipper is kind of useless, but whatever, these pants are great.
These are great. Thanks to 511 for finally making some clothes for women that are both good-looking and functional. I have 4 pairs now, and wear them all the time. Here are my take-aways... the fabric is sooo smooth, thick and stretchy. My guy loves it. Says it "feels like skin" oO. Regarding the fit... even though I'm short, I switched to the longs. And if you want them to fit like they fit the model, get them a size smaller than you normally wear. I can't remember the last time I wore a 6, but the 8's didn't stretch around the posterior as shown in the photo. I had to go down a size.
Back to the fabric: it's very sensitive to grease stains. I dripped some clear oil on my grey ones, creating a dark spot, and the washing machine did not take it out. Had to scrub by hand to remove it. (It did come out then). But it really shows the smallest amount of grease, absorbing it and spreading it into a larger spot. The other concern is more problematic... do not get these pants near the hooked half of any velcro that is rubbing for awhile. I was wearing a belt that had some of the hooky part exposed. After a few hours I saw the tiny hooks had grabbed into the fabric and it made a permanant shaggy patch when I pulled it away. I won't do that again.
So, despite these problems, I keep buying more. I'm up to 4 pairs now. I get complements all the time.
I'm a guy. I'll admit it. And these things are AWESOME! They are so soft. I like these better than the slim pants. I absolutely love all the pockets. I use them for work to keep my notepad and phone handy and secure. I'm constantly bending and kneeling, which is why I got them. They are like tights, but more functional (and a little less showy for obvious reasons) Some would say go up a size, but I found for myself, I had to keep exchanging until I finally got to the size I normally take. So, if you take a 4, you may want to try a 4. Anything bigger and they sag a bit and resemble more of jogger pants. For the guys who liked the flex defender pants but didn't find them slim or skinny enough, give these a try. FYI, the zipper and button is on the usual side for guys, which I found odd for a woman's pant, but perhaps 5.11 thought us skinny jean wearing guys would gravitate to these. I also read some reviews which said the crotch is a little bigger. This is also great for us guys and also if you want to carry up front with a holster like a Smart Carry. You won't see it unless you have a bright color or a large firearm. Other than that, these Kats are Wyld and I definitely recommend. When they come on sale, I will be looking into the grenade color or Sage. 5.11 did very well. Also, some may not like the zipper bottom, but I found them useful for boots or just a little bit more room. But these things do flex much like a pair of tights and with a belt, they won't ride down much.
I bought these a while ago after seeing a review note that they didn't have a back gap. I had been waiting for actual reviews on them they were new and I was worried about the waist fit.
They have amazing pockets! I don't carry a purse so keys, wallet, phone, and any miscellaneous stuff needs pocketed. They are deep, useful and plentiful.
The color choices are lacking. I got black, which was really the only viable color. The material is nice and sturdy, but you can see everything on it. I wish it were a denimy color, or at least something that hides specks better. The other color options might be better at that but they are hideous.
I don't regret buying these, but I bought them before the Defender Flex pants came out. I bought one of those recently and they are much better and the color is better.
I like the material feel of the Wyldcat and the knees seem sturdier than the Defender Flex. The Defender Flex has a better color option and it doesn't have the zippers.
The zippers don't really bother me, I wear them both open and closed, but they don't really help the pants any.
I will be buying more of the Defender Flex but I do recommend the Wyldcat as well.
I love these pants. The only thing I would change is I wish the long length was a tad longer. Oh well. The fit is awesome. I love the little slot pockets for empty mags when I'm shooting. And I love that I can wear them for hours on the range then out for dinner afterward! They have the perfect amount of stretch and I like the zippers on the legs....looks cool.
I've had these pants for 2-3 months and love them. I wear them to work all the time, dress them up and dress them down. There is a lot of detail that make them unique, but they are also very flattering. They have a great thickness and stretch to them as well. Extremely comfortable and the pockets are great.
Everything about this pant is wonderful. The thickness reminds me of old school corduroy; which is great for the colder seasons. I'm 5'2 and regular length fit just fine. My only gripe would be that the calves are a little snug - I have athletic legs and everything else fits fine except the calves. I have to unzip the pant to take the compression sensation off the calves. Other than that, it's a great pant
I love these pants. My boyfriend had picked me up an 8L while in SLC a few months back, I wore them all the time but noticed that they were probably slightly too large for me. I opted to pick up a couple more pairs in November and snagged a 6L. Couldn't be more happy with the fit. Length is great, still comfortable to sit and move around in, I'm really thrilled with these pants.
I've owned the 8L in green since summer and have not had a problem with any dye running or unnecessary wear on the fabric.
These pants do fit at or just above the ankle, however being 5'7 and mostly legs I didn't have much of a problem feeling comfortable when styled properly.
