Pushing myself to be better and to do better for others has always been one of my greatest innate desires. I thrive in challenging circumstances and feel most fulfilled when helping others, working out, or when rescuing animals.
Currently, I am a full time college professor, an NASM certified personal trainer, and the founder of an animal advocacy organization called, Frost Fund. In between these roles I am often training for my next Spartan, DEKA, or Hyrox race with my Yorba Linda based team. I am a nationally ranked Spartan athlete and absolutely love to get dirty during races.
On rare occasions, you may find me reading a book with my cat, rollerblading at the beach, or relaxing with my husband when he is off duty. I have a deep appreciation for the opportunity to be alive and believe I was born to make a difference in the lives of others; both people and animals.
I have a hard time sitting still and love to hike, camp, jump walls, and write. However, one of my absolute most favorite things to do is to push my body in the gym, on runs, or on an obstacle course at any given time. Overall, I like doing things that scare me. Even if it takes a minute to get the courage to do so.
What does “Always Be Ready” mean to you?
To me, “Always be ready” means in all aspects of your life; mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. This world has a crazy way of challenging you when you least expect it. Realizing this, I firmly believe it is better to prepare proactively for such tough times rather than to respond reactively when they inevitably come. To help myself always be ready, I personally believe in having very structured and disciplined mornings to help set the foundation for the rest of the day. My mornings always include time reading my Bible, journaling, a brief stretch/foam roll session, and a good cup of coffee. Also, I have found that pushing myself during weekly workouts often makes the other “hard” things in the day feel easy. When I know what I am personally capable of and remind myself who is ultimately in control, I feel much more equipped and ready for whatever is coming my way. I think in order to always be ready, we must regularly be doing hard things. Otherwise, your mind, body, and self-control can grow soft.
5 favorite 5.11 products
My favorite 5.11 product is by far the PT-R Weight kit. I use it during so many of my training sessions and to prepare for mountain climbing during races. I also love that it has two separate liner-weight bags capable of being used in so many other dynamic ways. I use them for farmer carries, core work, and for overall endurance training. My favorite 5.11 pieces of clothing to work out in are the PT-R Eliza Short and the PT-R Catalyst 1/2 zip. So comfy and easy to sweat in!
