WHY ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT WHAT YOU DO?

“I love to be “in the action” and able to make a difference. My job is to make sure “it” never happens. I am to be where the object of our surveillance is, to observe and pursue, but never to be seen and to prevent whatever the object is planning from happening. Most of the cases we work with are never mentioned in the media and never made public to the average citizen, because we have done what we are assigned to and have successfully prevented the plans from being executed.”

WHAT DOES "BEING READY" OR "BEING PREPARED" MEAN FOR YOU?

“It means that all my gear is prepped and ready 24/7. It’s a specific mindset that also impacts how I am and think in my private life. The risk assessment never sleeps. “Do I need to go into that incredibly packed crowd of people, or can I avoid that?” The type of vehicles we look out for, I also pay attention to, when not on the job. It’s not something I can turn off, that awareness is always there. I would say that I am definitely more alert than the average Joe. Having my private go-bag at home is a given for me. ”

WHY DO YOU HAVE A GO-BAG AND WHEN DO YOU USE IT?

“It feels good to know that my go-bag is always prepped with what I need. I never need to stop and think - do I have everything I need now? If I get a call at 3am and need to spring into action, my gear and I are ready, I just get dressed, grab my bag and go. Fun personal observation - I think in general, us ladies are better at being fully prepared for any situation we might face. I have often been asked by my male colleagues, why I have this or that with me, but later on, there usually comes a time when my “excess” gear, comes in handy.

My Lucy Tote has that CCW compartment which is invaluable and the fact that it looks like any retail handbag makes it ideal for my line of work. It’s also incredibly durable - I have been sitting on it, thrown it to the ground and mistreated it many times, but it still looks really good.”

The bag model used by the agent is currently out of stock. It will be replaced in 2023 with an updated version.

WHAT ARE YOUR 3 MOST IMPORTANT ITEMS IN YOUR GO-BAG AND WHY?

“My duty weapon, police id, radio...oh it’s hard to only choose three things. I really can’t be without the camera, cell phone, extra charger, batteries and energy bar, either. Building your go-bag is very individual. It has to be adapted against who you are and your personal needs. Male, female? Can you go a long time without energy level refill, or are you one of those who get incredibly hangry?

One of the things I always carry with me, is the elastic pharmaceutical adhesive tape. It can be used as a band-aid, fixate larger pressure dressings and help attach technical gear to various surfaces. It’s multi-functional and can be used for any kind of issues one might encounter.”
