I received these boots as a replacement for my very comfortable speed 2.0's. These boots are a lot thicker than the speeds. A lot heavier than the speeds. Extremely stiff! And my heal slides out of the heal pocket when I walk. I cannot get them tight enough to stop that. Driving is an entirely different challenge with these boots on. I had to take them off to drive so that I could actually feel the pedals. There is no true heal pocket in these either! I will be contacting 5.11 today to see what other options they have!
I am a Correctional Officer and these boots are the real deal. I've had them for almost a year now and after a long day of walking, running and climbing, my feet do not hurt at all. The quality is great, they shine up very well with the right polish. I would highly recommend them to any other CO or LEO.
I have had these for some time very well made eazy on the feet as i walk a lot thumbs up
Bought them for firefighter academy. Easy on, easy off. Comfortable, sturdy. Holding up well so far (month 3). But there is a big problem, despite those pros:
The stink from these boots is a powerful thing. None of my other boots smell at all. These things absolutely REEK after a full day at academy. Antimicrobial lining? I call B.S. on that one. The stink is so bad, I think I'm forced to leave a 2 star review. Must be a probiotic lining.
I got my boots yesterday and love them, but I must say the size fits really small so my toes smash up against the toe of the boots. I'm not sure if I can do much walking at all in them. I mainly bought them for riding the motorcycle.
I've had military/tactical type boots since the 80's when I was military. These are by far the best I've had. I wore them all day right out of the box. I'm an industrial designer and I am constantly in the manufacturing floor on concrete several times a day. These are great boots for what I need. I will go with these again.
These are great boots. I'm looking at what other people are saying as far as the negative part of them and I don't understand their frustration. These work great! The uncomfortable feeling is probably coming from the difference between 6" and 8". The 6" version of this boot should be used for summer wear whereas the 8" should be used for colder temperatures. The size of sock you where also matters. I have noticed that these boots become uncomfortable when combined with wearing thick wool socks. Otherwise, I think these boots are great and I highly recommend them.
i bought these because they were out of A.T.A.C.® SAGE 8" CST BOOT (which i loved) and they were junk the nose started peeling back, the leather at the sole line ripped. i will never buy these again.
I have worn these boots everyday for the last two months. I am on my feet six to eight hours a day. It took about a week to get them good and broke in and they require a good sock. That said I put them on first thing in the morning and take them off right before bed. I have walked on concrete floors and chased down shoplifters with ease. I will get my next pair a little before actually required so I can break them in a little easier. I highly recommend these boots.
