I am member of the fire dept and disaster team. when I first purchased the boots and worm them a few days, they stunk to high heaven just from sweating. I have the ATAC for a year and certainly not waterproof. whether mopping up a grass fire or being in the rain, they leak. they are not comfortable on hard concrete flooring. Looking other vendor for boots. I was really expecting something better considering the cost.
Really good boots!
These boots scuff way to easy. Been having them a month and the entire toe is scuffed on both boots. Absolutely no way to pushy them to restore. They look awful now and the material literal almost rub off with your finger tips... I like the boots themselves, comfortable and surprisingly light weight. They feel great on my ankle and have good support. Could maybe use a gel insole but not necessary. Overall I'm happy I just can't believe the incredibly cheap material used in the front of the boot. I will stick worry 5.11 no doubt, but may look at other models in the future
Received a pair for work and right out of the box they were very comfortable. I work at a jail and I'm on my feet for 12 hours a day and still they're comfortable, only gripe is they get hot after awhile but expected for being an 8" full leather boot. Word of the wise wear long enough socks with this boot!
Just purchased a new pair and it really suited my expectations. Looking forward to get another pair during summer
This review is for sales management. Tweaks needed are: 1/ Heel strike sole area slightly too protruding. 60 grit sandpaper on a block reduced its prominence. 2/ I was very disappointed that I could not remove or put on the boot merely by the use of the zipper! With the zipper down completely, lower laces still had to be loosened to get my heel in and out. 3/ Wide sizes esp. 10.5 - 12, need to be slightly wider and have more height across the front portion of the boot. Going to a larger size, oversizes the heel pocket, reducing heel control.
I have purchased 3 pairs of these boots now and I will continue to purchase them in the future. Absolutely perfect fit and very comfortable. These are the lightest and longest lasting boot I have warn. I would say that these boots last about 1.5 -2 years per pair for me. The laces have lasted pretty much the same length of time. My advice to 5.11 is, please do not change this boot.
Just started a new security job that they wanted me to wear a boot with a shine but something I could walk in all night and these boots fit the bill! High quality boot!
I bought these boots because they are lightweight and are also CSA approved. Caution !! very hot to wear especially in direct sunlight and after 2 shifts in the rain NOT waterproof.
I took a chance on this boot never having heard of this company. I'm flat footed and spent a lot of time on my feet so foot comfort is important. They were true to size so if you wear an 11 tennis shoe order an 11 and that's what will fit and they synched up nicely out of the box and are getting better as they break in, I have put in many hours of overtime with them and they are really impressive. Definitely worth the gamble.
