I like these gloves. However, the size chart was way off. It only measures width of the hand, which I measured at a large (XL if I squished my hand). I went with the XL as a precaution and should have gone with the XXL. The measuring chart needs some way to take length into account. Fortunately, they stretch a little.
these are amazing gloves, I will get them again when they wear out. plus I have ordered them for others at the station/
I'll be using this during my operations in Afghan. I tried them and and the fit feels nice, and the knuckles are what I expected, built to last.
Deployed with these gloves my last 2 times, went to a few training sites, and have owned these for almost a year now. They breath well during hot weather. I am able to load magazines without snagging problems. For testing, im able to even pick up safety pins off a hard floor. The sizing chart is amazingly accurate for me in my case. Sad to say, I lost these gloves at the chow hall. Somebody had a real lucky day that day. I have since then bought again without hessitation. Theyre that worth it!!!
The gloves are good not hard to break in but they leave a black stain on the hands after wearing. After times I am still getting a large amout of Die on my hands. There is no instructions on the gloves for cleaning prior to use. The alastic on the wrist is not lasting Stretches easy.
The gloves fit great and seem durable. My only beef with the design is that the glove does not work with a touch screen. This makes these gloves behind the times. Can't use with touch screen phone, gps, or tablet. Bummer. Other wise they are great! If only I did not have to remove the gloves just to simply answer my phone. Someone should really come up with an adhesive fingerprint that makes touch screen operating possible.
Some of the best gloves I have owned. Only issue I have had with the gloves is the stiching around the wrist of the glove has already come undone. But I would recommend these gloves for normal and tactical field work.
Over time I have bought and used many products from 5.11 and they ussually work great, are very durable and of high quality materials. This gloves appear to be the exception. I've had them for around 4 months and they are ready to go to the garbage. They did not pass the slash test since with a quick knife slash they ripped, further more the rubber like material used to cover the hardened knuckles tore off easily with any bump which makes them look awfully bad after just weeks of wearing them. I do give them points for superior dexterity and confort, not to mention the single layer leather palm works great for grip, although the gloves could use better reinforcement on the wrist since in personal experience i got almost no protection from impact on my wristbone. For the price i wouldn't recomend this gloves.
I want to like these, but I simply cannot. One glove may fit fine, but another glove of the same make and size may fit differently. For example. I tried two pairs of these. The smalls I tried on were tight, but tight enough that I was afraid I'd break the glove when I made a fist. The mediums I ended up with had one glove that fit fine, and the other that had the pointer and middle finger too long (I noticed similar issues with the thumbs on the AK2). Until this issue is fixed, I do not recommend these.
I am a big fan of 5.11 and am consistently impressed with there products. HOWEVER, I have owend these glove for less than a week and already the stitching at the wrist under the base of the thumb-on both gloves- has busted. And not from abusive pulling on and off or use. The "authorized dealer" had there tailors stitch the first one on Friday, and I will be returning tomorrow [Monday] to get the second "blowout" mended. very disappointed...
I have used them OTJ and for riding [motorcycle], but nothing heavy that would truly require a rugged glove. The dexterity is superb. Great for the vibrations of the bike, excellent protection from debree, and I can still write citations with ease. Also great for patdowns [still able to identify small contriband through clothing]
