I wear these during the winter months. The heavier cotton construction is better for the cold weather, though all the styles go stiff on you when that wind whips through. (Taclite Pro are my summer pants)
My only complaint is that they've eliminated the right side, no-flap front thigh pocket that you get on the TPro and moved the external front thigh pocket to that side. The muscle memory gets a little screwy when I switch over to these in the cold season because each pocket has a use!
I have a really hard time finding pants that fit. These are perfect. Roomy but not too bulky and the length is just right. Plus, I am not a fan of synthetics. So glad these are all cotton!
The only inseam sizes that I found was regular and large. I'd buy pants for her if short was offered. It seems that nothing is made for petite women.
I am 5'1" and about 125 pounds. The waist on these fit great, and the length was perfect. I was expecting to need to hem them, but didn't. The pockets are amazing and fit pretty much everything you need. (I was toting around 4 magazines, my phone, chapstick, and my wallet and had pockets to spare). The fabric is a bit heavy and thick and I live in DEEP south Texas where it hits over 100 degrees easy every day during the summer and these pants were a bit warm. The only other issue I had was that they are EXTREMELY baggy through the thighs and a tad bit too baggy after the knee. Other than that, great pants. My next buy is going to be some Stryke pants :)
I have these in black in a size 16, I like the fit, but I agree with a previous reviewer that tapering the legs for the women's pants is a good idea and they are a heavy pant. I like my Stryke pants better as they are a lighter material, at least I think they are the Stryke, it would also be good if you put on the care tags which model pants they are like Stryke, or Tactical, etc. I find it hard sometimes to find which line they are when I want to reorder. These are mostly true to size, I normally wear a 16 in jeans and I ordered the 16 in these, still need a belt, they fit good in the waist but very bit in the hips. The other model I have I need to order a size smaller, I got a 16, but it's kind of big, not so much so that I can't wear, I just put a belt on and tighten it to keep them up, they are really really comfortable pants.
I would recommend either one to others
It would be nice to see more variety in the womens line of products.
I love these pants. I currently own two and they have been very useful. I work as a carpenter and electrician so these are wonderful. Only problems with these that I have found is that the fit is weird. I am 5' 3'' so I figured that normal length would work for me but they are still a bit short. Also the legs are not as narrow as the picture would suggest. Overall the are wonderful and get the job done.
I am sure these pants are great if you can get them in your size, however, at 5'8, 115 pounds... they are not for me! I am tall so the tall lengths on these are amazing, but I am also incredibly fit and apparently too thin for this pant. As someone else mentioned, a size 2 is still very large. They are wide in the waist and down through the thighs. The shape and width from the knee down is fine, but that doesn't help much when they don't stay up. 5.11 needs to make a smaller size, or reevaluate their size "2"! If you are under 125 pounds, this might not be the brand for you.
Legs are too big for these pants. Need to have a taper to them. I have to have mine altered. No 2 pairs fit the same. I have purchased several pairs over the last few years & none of them have fit the same. But the pants are very durable.
I really love these pants, but they were really long. I had to get them hemmed. Honestly, these are the first pair of 5.11 pants that I've purchased and I liked them the instant I put them on. They're comfortable and durable. They're great for hiking.
One slight issue though is that the fabric is very heavy so I would suggest finding something lighter to wear on hot and humid days.
These do have a low rise, but it works for me. They are roomy/baggy, and I love that. I don't like restrictive clothing. I did cut off the big loop in the back - don't need it and not the look I want. I wear them almost daily. Got a second color recently. Very durable.
