I purchased 3 pairs over the last 4 years. It is my absolute favourite boot. But... the one I bought about 1 year ago had an issue with the sole coming off the boot in the front after around 7 months of usage. The one I bought this year developed the same problem within 4 weeks!! Highly embarrassing taking them to a trip into the Moroccan desert and needing to duct tape the soles to your shoes because you have no other shoes with you since you depend on 5.11 quality.
I still love the boot and the ones I bought 4 years ago are still doing their job! It seems production quality went down over the years... sad... since now I need to find another boot as good as this one!
Have two pair, wore one pair for two years for everyday general use to working in the yard then they became my "go to" motorcycle boots. Second pair is now my :-) dress shoes and light hiking/ general wear boot. Excellent breathability and mine have held up rock solid. Insoles are toasting on the first pair now (I mean, I wear these every day for the most part) so I may make these my trashy beater boots and get a third pair for biking specifically. -- Good stuff -- Not waterproof (nor expected to be but they do hold up pretty damn well to rain/snow for boot with side zip and venting.
I've had these suckers since July 2015, and up to this point I can say that the A.T.A.C. Boot is well worth getting. They have been worn six days out of the week for about sixteen hours out of the day... in the Middle East. Let's just say that they are well worn in. Extremely comfortable and I only needed to change the provided insole once. After nine months of wear these are the things that have worn down on me.
Front toe guard coming off of boot. Easy super glue fix.
Original shoelaces wearing out. Using zipper helped reduce that wear/tear.
Back part of boot (fabric where the circle part is) is coming apart.
Minor gouging on the rubber sole.
Would I buy these again? Absolutely. Recommend them? You bet.
I'm a Army vet and have worn a lot of boots both military & civilian. These boots have to be the lightest I've ever worn! I've been wearing these boots almost every day for about 6 months and they have been holding up excellent. I was concerned about the side zipper not holding up well, but I haven't had one problem. I live up north and due to the mild winter I wore them constantly. Here's where they fall short, but they are NOT a winter boot! They are not waterproof even though the silicone spray helped repel some water. The treads are not good on ice and they are not rubber treads. If you need a good boot and you don't plan on snow, I highly recommend these boots!
I got these boots and I love them. I've had them since October, 2015. They are amazing. They hold up very well. I wear them all the time and they're sill perfect. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.
There's a few unfair revues here taking a few stars away for various reasons that dont seem legit. I've seen people complaining they aren't waterproof.....well no they are not, but they aren't said to be waterproof so I'm not sure how they lose a star for that? Anyway these boots are comfortable, lightweight and breathe well. I forget I even have on boots they feel like a sneaker to me. Break in was fast, maybe 2 12 hour days and they were good to go. So far quality seems good I've only had them a month but they have been put through their paces in various environments, rocks, dirt, mud, oil and grease. I do wish they had a waterproof version of this boot with a steel or composite toe I'd buy several pairs. But since they boots are exactly as described they get 5 stars from me and I'll buy them again.
These boots hold up to extensive use and are extremely comfortable. I recommend these to anyone.
Fits great...I have been wearing them for over 10 days straight right out of the box no issues what so ever.
I use this boot for all my outdoor tactical training, camping, hiking, and honestly general purpose wear needs. Normally when trying find good tactical boots, I find that most makers of boots don't have ones that fit my wide feet. I never thought my feet to be really wide but when I tried on a pair 12-wide in this boot, it fit my foot like a glove and was really comfortable. Every other boot I've tired were a little too narrow and would make my feet sore after a while.
I took a chance on these boots; my prior experiences with side-zip boots have been disappointing. The zippers on these never failed once. The comfort of this boot is incredible, and they held up to almost-daily wear under tough jobsite conditions. They are very light for a an 8" boot, and cooler than I expected; my feet never got sweaty, even in the Phoenix AZ summertime. The inside toe lining finally gave up, cracked, and started wearing holes in my socks. If not for this, I'd still be wearing these boots. They'll be replaced with another 5.11 boot.
