I love the fit of these pants; unfortunately, 511 put a brand tag on the lower right corner of the right rear pocket. Everytime I glance in a mirror it looks like I sat in something.
Even in the field I don't want people thinking I'm careless enough to sit in crap. The tag is integral to the pocket seam so I can't cut it off.
I'd buy multiple pairs but can't get past the tag placement.
I was always looking for a tactical pans I can wear in a field and in evryday life for a long time And I've already had a couple of so cold "tactical jeans" from different manufacturers, befor this one came out. But all of them were good enough only at taking it outdoor rather then in big city (too many pockets, odd cut).
But defender-flex has it all. Exelent fit, casual cut and still functional enough to wear them in a range or field. I've already took one out to a camping, and ,boy, I've shown no mercy using them. But defenders took it all! And I still can get downtown without changing it or looking like a total bum.
So 5.11 did a great job desining . Defenders-flex is durable, good-looking, has an exelent fit, functional pants. Witch makes them the best tactical jeans in market so far.
Thanking you in advance.
It is a very flexible and comfortable product I recommend it extensively.
I'm an Asian and I'm 5'5" and have a 32"waist and 28" inseam, so naturally any shorty would understand how hard it is for guys like us to buy tactical pants without looking like you are wearing your dad's tactical clothings. 5.11 satisfied me just right by offering this pants in 30" waist, and wait for it..... yes! 28" inseam! I don't need any alteration any this pants fit for me just right, 7 pockets around the hips mean I can stuff my everyday essentials all onto the pants and go for a ride or a walk without bringing out a bag or pack. The stretching fabrics can be a little too warm near the equator but that is the problem with all stretchable fabric. The relatively thick fabric also ensure the pants will stand straight and will not sag like ripstop pants. These goes very well with boots or leather shoes alike, depending if you are going for a short walk in the countryside or going to work in an office, it's good for all purpose. The burnt color is great, am considering getting another color, I know a jeans color version is coming up but I already have jeans that do (almost) the same so I won't need that.
Wish they offer more colors in the future.
These pants are extremely comfortable and very low profile. The waist size runs a little big which surprised me since they are slimmer pants. Usually I'm a 35-36 but the 34 fit with room to spare.
The material is a little heavy for hot weather and it would be awesome to see 5.11 expand the line with a lighter weight version.
I have two pair and want to buy the other colors whenever they get off back order. Nice slim fit without the skinny jean look. Plenty of room in the waist for comfortable IWB appendix carry. Love the hip pockets, I carry my plus size phone and still can comfortably sit down without bending or crushing. Nice durable thick fabric, quiet too. Like the oversized coin pocket which accommodates a full size folder. These pants will replace all my other bulky ugly uncomfortable cargo tactical pants. Don't change a thing! Only complaint, availability.
These pants are the best fitting pants I've ever had. The 35 is absolutely perfect and true to size. I have an athletic build and sort of wide hips and these pants are form-fitting without being tight anywhere. They ride just below my navel and stay put there when I move and bend. Feels like I'm wearing athletic pants with the range of motion I have, but they look professional enough for me to wear to work. Nice modern style. I wish the pockets were a bit deeper, but they fit all my EDC junk with no issues, and they look very "grey man"-- it's almost impossible to tell that I'm carrying "tactical" stuff in my pockets. The mag pockets are very handy for my 5.11 1.5 tactical pen and multitool and they're positioned so I can't even feel these awkwardly shaped items.
A word of advice: the extra dye (especially on the black) will rub off on something like earbuds or a white phone case. It's probably best to wash them before wearing.
TL;DR: best pants ever
Just got a pair of these pants in and if they hold up well they will be my go too for out on the town. They don't scream tactical but hold my extra mag tourniquet and light great. Very comfortable waistband overall big thumbs up! Look forward to trying the jean when it comes out
I bought these pants having already been satisfied with 5.11 for years. My goal was to invest in a pair of pants that I could wear in the field, at work, or in town that give me tactical advantage without the tactical look. These are those pants. They emphasize the grey-man philosophy but still maintain a sharp edge. The extra mag pockets are perfect for a phone, a knife, or a flashlight that remain low profile and comfortable to sit in. The only items I keep in my back pockets are paperwork. These pants are great with the extra back pockets higher on the waist line and low-profile. The "volcano" color was darker than I expected but I very pleased; not grey, not blue, dark enough that it has a professional yet hip edge without being another grey pant. I am a 36x36 typically and at first I was nervous they were to big. After wearing them for two days I realize it's just right. When I wear them with boots the length is perfect, barefoot I have to roll the bottoms. The waist is great, I carry inside the waistband daily and these are very comfortable, with or without a firearm. Overall, I 100% recommend these pants and will be purchasing another pair in another color.
Nice fit and seems good quality ,the 2 extra back pockets that you find on 5.11 pants are a must for me now I have got use to having them .
