I like the lightweight of these boots but the overall quality is just not there when compared to the regular 8" A.T.A.C. boots. I have worn the A.T.A.C.s for over 10 years but saw this version for sale on Govx.com. FIgured I would give them a try but the padding on the heel/Achilles area is severely lacking. On my right foot the seems rub so bad against my foot that I get a sharp pain through my Achilles. Going to try and put some other padding there but if it doesn't help these boots will go in the trash, they hurt that bad. Will never buy these again.
I love the a.t.a.c. 8" boots. I am on my 5th pair. So I thought I would try the speed 2.0 since they have the a.t.a.c. footpad and outsole. They don't compare. The 2.0 dosent have any padding for the back of your heal. I would send them back but bought 2 pair on sale and return shipping would cost to much to make it worth it. The boot looks good and looks like they would hold up like the atac. Just no heal padding so your heal will rub.
Muy buena boot
Just broke the zipper for the second time on this style boot. I sent them back and got great customer service. I will not get this brand of boot again, but will give 5.11 another try because of their excellent service.
The boot is comfortable and significantly lighter than my other work boots, but I have had to replace both the original zippers on the boots. The second zipper didn't even break while I was tying up the boot, it popped while I was sitting at a desk. I had to go back and swap my boots out for the day. Not a safe bet with the original zippers.
I've had these boots for a year or so, I wear them out to my 50 acre property. They've been comfortable, kept my feet dry, and impervious to stickers/thorns/etc. The workmanship of the BOOT is top notch and bullet proof. However, the fittings (lace eyelets, zipper) are unfortunately extremely sub-par. I don't mind plastic, but these are weak and have broken all over the place. at least a dozen - no overstatement - eyelets have popped apart, and one of the zippers has had teeth come out, which can make it 'fun' to get the boot off when the zipper won't go all the way down.
I really want a second pair of these when this set fully wears out, but I'm going to be leery of the purchase when the quality of the smaller pieces like this is so shoddy.
After the 3rd time,I used this boots, the zip broke rendering it useless, not nice for a day at the corrections!
I'm a correctional officer and had used the 511 ATAC 8 with side zips for 3 years without any problem, but when I bought this model a month ago,I was really dissatisfied, both side zips broke after the 2nd week that I used them! The sides zips are really weak on this model and they need to be upgraded as soon as possible.
In the past i was buying the 5.11 Tactical Speed 8" Tactical Boot this was a very comfortable boot that needed very little break-in. This boot is the replacement for that boot and is nowhere close to the comfort of it's predecessor! I could wear the original boot all day straight out of the box and my feet were fine, with this boot by the end of an 8 hrs shift my feet are hurting!
Before I used to wear a lot of skate shoes tennis shoes stuff like that. My step dad who's bought a lot of 511 stuff persuaded me into getting a pair of boots that I would like because they would be a lot more comfortable and they would support me ankle and feet better than a shoe. I went this model. I have been ever so rough on them and I never complained or had my feet hurt. I went above beyond put some insoles in and my feet have never hurt since.
Since I've been so rough on them personally I might even reorder another pair
