I wanted a pair of these rights since they were released at Shot Show a couple years ago and finally got a pair this past Christmas. I was so excited to get them! The first time I wore them the only problem I had was a lack of a pocket and they are on the short side (I'm 5'6"). The legs fit snuggly but not too tight. The waist is a little loose...definitely can't get away without wearing a belt. After wearing for a second time as legitimate range tights the threading started to unravel on the outer seams. I stopped the unraveling and added a dab of super glue to reinforce. Once I washed the leggings on a delicate cycle more threads started to fray and unravel. I really wanted to love these but for the money spent I do not think they are good enough quality. Hopefully 5.11 will rework the design of these and get better quality control so that they are worth while in the future.
The belt loops are a must for the range. But why the heck isn't there a pocket for a phone or empty magazine? I want to shoot in these but they are too impractical. Also need longer inseam. You are almost there, 5.11. I'm begging you to revise these pants so I want to buy them.
Love these, wear constantly. The dense material feels high grade, almost more like a "jegging" than a tight. Put some low patch pockets on the bottom to throw a $20, credit card, or stuff a phone in (and help obscure my undy line) and they would be even more perfect!
My body type is rather thicker on the bottom, and slimmer at the waist. I love everything except for the waistband gap. I'm 5'4" with a 27" inseam, 30" waist, 39" hip/butt, 140 lbs. Got the tights in a medium. My calves are thicker, so these were a little tight around there. No big deal. However, they're baggier than I'd prefer around the crotch and the waist. The waistband gap is annoying. I don't know how I'll be able to get these altered because of the elastic, but the belt helps. The belt loops are great and the fabric is very durable, but somewhat thick, so they'll require some "breaking in". Otherwise, the tights make my legs and butt look great and have held up well at the range. You'll need to wear pistol and magazine holsters on the belt as there are no pockets.
I filmed a video review on these pants if you'd like to check it out :)
I typically wear size 10-12 and ordered a large. I am a fitness instructor and wear leggings everyday so I was excited for these! In other athletic legging wear I typically wear a size medium (Athleta, Victoria's Secret, etc.). Based on other reviews, I decided to go with the large. The legs portion fit tight, but the waist is a little loose. I think if I ordered a medium, the waist would fit better, but would be impossible to get past my legs! I have a couple of other 5.11 pants and the waist on all of them are very high - these are not the case. They sit lower than I expected. I can't wear these without a belt bc every time I bend over my bum would hang out (the belt keeps the waist from slipping too much). Also, I am short (5'2") and the leggings fit right at my ankles (I can't imagine being any taller bc these would be too short then!). The material is thick and stretchy - no fear of it snagging or ripping. Overall, I would recommend these. I can move much better in these pants compared to my jeans and other "range" pants that I wear. In addition to wearing them at the range, I'll probably also wear them for hiking. My recommendations for 5.11 - improve the leg-to-waist sizing, make the waist a little higher fit, and add pockets! Please don't change the material, waist band, or belt loops!
My tights just came in the mail and I am so stoked about them! The fit is great, the fabric is amazing and I love the style. I can't wait to wear these hunting, running, hiking everywhere else!
After one time of washing these pants, on a delicate cycle and by themselves, they came out frayed along all of the seams. Since they were under warranty I sent them back and was told by customer service that the fraying should not have happened. Received the new pair, wore them under normal use, washed them on the delicate cycle, and received the same result. These are too expensive of a pant to come from a company that is known for their quality for this to happen twice in a row. As a long time customer of 5.11, I would love to see them rectify this issue.
I liked the capri fit better, but still decided against both. The material is definitely durable, but not very flexible. Since they aren't honestly practical for what I would wear to the range, it needed to be more comfortable to wear either working out etc. I think the thickness would be too hot to wear for any length of time in South Texas. I normally wear a small and initially thought the smalls were too small....had to slowly work the pants up my legs (and I have skinny ankles)! The mediums were much better fit in the legs, but the waist band was then way too big. I would have to wear a belt.
I love these yoga pants. I have them in both colors.
pros: very comfortable, sturdy material
cons:Small fits me, but since I'm petite, it's 3-4 inches too long.
NEEDS POCKETS (maybe on the side of the thigh?).
The extra small is significantly too short, and the size small is significantly too baggy and still too short on me. I'm only 5'4", so I imagine that the woman they're designed to fit is a petite small instead of a regular small. It would be helpful if these came in a longer inseam option like the other pants do. I want to like them because they're built so well, but I just can't wear them because they just don't fit.
