For those who are worked up about the dry clean aspect, I have owned several colors of this shirt and worn them in the field all across the globe. Never once did I dry clean them and they held together for years. I hate to see this shirt discontinued.
I just got this shirt and while I have absolutely loved all my shirts prior to this I was hoping for a very lightweight shirt for the HOT & HUMID Miami (FL) summers and have been pleased with the lightweight airy and easy clean. THIS was unusually heavy mostly suitable for FALL weather and worst of all, it's DRY CLEAN ONLY!!!! That's a strictly NO GO for me.
These are great shirts, regardless of the having to be dry cleaned. I really like the cut/fit, they conceal my handgun and associated equipment well. They are light weight, as some have mentioned, that said I prefer a light weight shirt, if it is cold I put a jacket on.
I don't wear body armor under it, and I really like the snaps, which you can quickly open one handed to gain access to your equipment (magazines, flashlight, handcuffs, etc...).
Over all, I prefer these shirts over the other offerings 511 currently has. I prefer the single flat/matte colors to the ridiculous plaid patterns 511 currently offers.
I own the whole line of original 5.11 Covert Shirts. I'm extremely disappointed that 5.11 is no longer about quality. These shirts should not be used for anything other than casual daily activities or Fishing. Does not fit well with concealable body armour, tear and wear appear way too fast around the areas where your concealed sidearm and magazines are, and the whole button system is extremely unreliable. The original setting with real buttons and some snaps was a much much better idea.
The shirt is great except that to my knowledge this is the only 5.11 garment that must be Dry Cleaned. I was very disappointed after I removed the tags (I couldn't return it) to see that it was dry clean only. I certainly didn't expect to have any product from 5.11 that I couldn't just throw in the wash.
Buttons come undone very easily if wearing vest underneath and when wearing ear mic with wires routed. Sides began to show signs of wear on inside within three uses. After third wear, multiple holes appeared around concealed holster and ammo pouch locations. Recommend for fishing/casual wear, do not for concealed carry/tactical use.
PANTS ARE GREAT. SHIRTS WILL NOT LAST 9 MONTHS.
Good shirt for warmer weather when you still want to conceal a weapon. The shirt feels a little "top heavy" because of the pockets, but nothing to worry about. Comfortable, nice looking shirt.
This is a great shirt. runs a little to big for size but they stand behind there product. Im returning cause you have to dry clean only. Major pain!! Very sad! I would buy a ton of them if i could wash them at home Sorry 511
I bought this shirt for a concealed weapons carry for when I travel thinking it would be more like the covert shirts I bought during the first and second generation shirts. Boy was I wrong. The older shirts actually drapes over the weapon and sticks closer to the body to give that natural shirt look without giving away the presence of a weapon. The new shirts floats away from the gun and presents a challenge in high wind situations. As the wind presses against the body while walking, the concealment is blown because the then gun shape shows. This is not the case with the 1st and second generation shirts. Sure the shirt is lighter but making it lighter comes with a concealment price. The first and second generation shirts were of a better quality. This shirt is of a cheap quality. The stitching on the first and second was great even down to the buttons and it offered a mixture of authentic buttons and faux buttons. This version is all faux and I can already see that there will be problems with keeping them shirt buttoned. The stitching is not as strong as the originals probably due to the loss of draping around the bottom for waist concealed carry. The velcro for the side breaks away easily, sometimes with no effort at all. The first and second generation shirts were more sturdy and only broke when you wanted them to break. In all, this version was a total letdown. If you have the originals, keep it for as long as you can. These shirts lack the quality that was once present in 5.11s.
