These are a great pair of boots. Very comfy to walk/stand in. They do how ever really require some serious breaking in. I first got them and tried them on. The eyelet that is behind the other one was killing me. It was so uncomfortable I considered returning them but decided not to. What I did was took the paper wads that came inside of them and shoved them in to maybe "Reform" that area of the boots. After leaving them in for about a week the eyelet is no longer a problem. They are indeed a stiff boot. Personally thats not an issue with me but some one else maybe. I haven't yet taken them out paint balling, hiking, or running so I can't speak to how well they do outside of paved surfaces.
I had this boot for over a year perfect for in town on those hot summer days
My last pair were issued to me in 2003 in marine corp boot camp i thought i couldnt buy a better pair of boots . That is till i walked into my local 5.11 store and tried these i bought them and use them at work and love them, they keep my feet warmer than any other boot , Also breath well to so my feet arent sweating like crazy and my back pain has gone away with these awesome soles . the zipper makes it nice , as far as the leather its been about 2 weeks and no tears and holding up very well, i work in a mechaining / indusrtail place moving pallets around that weigh beteew 500 lbs to 1500 lbs and drive a huge truck for delivery i have ran the pallet jack and pallets into my feet and have no issues with the leather
I've had these boots since Dec 2015. The are comfortable and the soles still look new. That said, the leather used on these is cheaply made and weak at best. The leather tears easily. I have an office job and I'm not hard on shoes, I'm reluctant to put my trust in 5.11 boots any longer. The quality to price ratio is making me think twice before buying another 5.11 boot again. I'm currently looking to buy another pair due to all the tearing and figured I'd see if anyone else reported this issue or if I just got a defective pair of boots.
