As a field service tech, I am up, down, and all around all day. In a single day, I may be on my back, in the air, on my knees, crawling around, or just about any other position.
At first, I thought these pads would tear and wear out quickly, but after 6 months with them, they are still in the same condition as their first week of use. They have the minor tears around the area it folds, but they have held up well considering.
These pads have had me fall down and catch myself on my knee, kneel on rough surfaces, and stomp around on my knees. I have had no bruising or damage to my knees. They are very comfortable. It has gotten to the point that if I am going to a work meeting, wearing my Taclite Pro's and I am not wearing my kneepads (as they are not needed), I feel like something is missing.
They are just as you would expect...fit right into the TacPro pants. I love all my 511 stuff; it's innovative and high quality.
Normal knee pads tend to 'get in the way' when working close quarters in combat vehicles. As these pads slip into the tactical trouser's knees, they don't catch on anything when operating in this cramped area.
I am new to 511 tactical gear. I work as a general contractor in the Pacific North West and the pants sparked my interest when I saw a government building official wearing them. My first purchase was the TacLite Pro pants, "" "" shorts, operator belt and the neoprene knee inserts. I decided to buy the neoprene inserts when I saw that the tactical pants accept them because I spend a lot of time having to work on the floor. I love the pants, shorts & belt however the knee inserts do nothing but move around and when the time comes they are not where they need to be. I am satisfied with high quality and flexibility of my new apparel (even though I blew through my new pants in two weeks) however I believe there needs to be improvement on this accessory and the way they work with the pant.
These have saved my knees more times than I can remember.
Pads are very comfortable. They fit easily into knee pockets and are secure in the pocket.
Down side is after wearing to work 1 time they both were starting to tear. I don't think they will last very long for me.
That being said in a 8 hour work day I go from a standing to a kneeling position 50+ times and crawl around in attics alot so the are getting heavy use.
at first i thought the padding wouldn't be thick enough when i put it in the pants, but it's actually quite comfortable and i have no problems going from the standing position straight to a kneeling position(even onto BB's) on solid concrete.
the only things i have to gripe about is that if you have the padding in your pants while you're walking about they're noticable and they sag a little bit
I am a carpenter and spend a lot of time walking around and kneeling. These provide the perfect amount of cushion for kneeling while being practically unnoiceable while walking around. In fact, I have to remind myself to take them out of the pants before I do laundry because I forget that they are there.
They do what they're supposed to. I'm not the kind of guy that needs a full set of knee pads, so these are perfect. I got them for my Taclite pros and they aren't very noticable when they are inside them. They could be a little thicker, but they still help a quite a bit. Considering they are basically mouse pads in a different shape, they are a little overpriced. They could at least sprouce them up a bit, by making them thicker. My only other problem is that I'm only 5' 7" so they ride a little low and when I kneel my knee is pretty close to the top of the pad, sometimes only half on the pad. The pocket for the these knee pads are a little low on the Taclite pros in 30" length. I am happy with my purchase, but there's not much of a need to buy another pair unless they come out with a better version.
