i use these pants when im working in the mud snow rain . Built for hell and can handle it with pride nothing can compare to these pants
I use them in rain and snow. overall they hold up to everything keeping me dry.
The cargo pockets aren't completely waterproof, so watch what you put in them. the seat also gives in if sitting on something wet.
When I was first ordering these pants, I was nervous about the size being big enough to fit on over regular pants, as these are "outerwear" waterproof pants. I wasn't sure if I should order a size larger or just order my regular size. I decided to order my regular size, and purchased Medium Regular. This was a PERFECT choice. These types of sizes are the way military uniforms are sized and as a reference, I wear size 32X32 pants. These pants easily slid over my regular pants (medium regular -- 32x32) and have so many great features.
There is only one Con I can come up with. The bottom of the legs zip open to allow the pants to slip on over boots. However, once unzipped, they are still attached and only widen the leg to a restricted width. I would have preferred that these open up freely and the two sides of the leg could flap open as wide as I need. Despite this minor issue, I love these pants. From the design of the belt loops to the awesome features, these will go perfect with my Sabre 2.0 Jacket (which I am obsessed with) to keep me dry during my next carbine course.
I settled on these pants for a few reasons but one of the main features that I needed were belt loops. Since these are over-wear pants, I needed belt loops so I could still use my belt-mounted mag pouches and holster. These belt loops are superbly designed. Not only do they Velcro open to act as keepers, they are also looped underneath (like normal belt loops) so you can run a belt with mag pouches.
Wearing these outside, I am excited to put them through my next class. I hope they hold up as well as they seem they will, and serve me for a long time. Between my RUSH 72 pack, Sabre 2.0 Jacket, and these Patrol Rain Pants, I am quickly becoming hooked on 5.11. When I first got my Rush 72 pack, I had purchased it at the Pearl Harbor Navel Exchange (NEX) in Hawaii. It turns out that it was an older model; not compatible with the MOAB system. I called 5.11 to find this out, and then they told me to send them the bag so that they could send me back the newer model (in whatever color I wanted). Great company with great customer service and great products -- 5.11 rocks!
