Great these are durable and very light at the same time. Love the adjustable waist.
I recently purchased three pairs of the Small in these. I have been buying these same pants for around seven years, and I have always worn Small. A few adjustments to the design was made a while back, including longer blousing straps and higher inner pocket dividers on the cargo pockets. I didn't like these changes, but I kept buying them because they were still better than any of the other pants I've tried.
However, two of those three pairs were a new design, with a much larger stiffer (really really thick and stiff) waistband. I had to sell them to someone who usually wears the next size up. Then I ordered two more pairs in XS, thinking those might fit.
Again, I received two different versions of these pants. One seemed to be the older version, and as such, the waist was quite tight (as XS should be on me) and the rest of the proportions seemed normal. The other pair had a waist that fit me, but it was very snug through the butt and abdomen. I could barely get my hands (I have slender hands--I'm female) into the front pockets. I thought maybe they had changed the design to be more male-friendly, but the crotch area (which is typically very roomy in these pants), was cut like women's jeans--really snug, not good for men at all.
I would try the women's TDU pants, but they don't make them with the twill fabric--I tried the ripstop and don't like it at all.
I can't wear these pants anymore in any size! I've loved them for so many years, they are the only pants I wear to work--they're almost all I've got (six pairs now, some fraying out after seven years of constant wear). I'm really sad to see these go, because I don't know where to buy pants anymore.
these pants are perfect... and hold up quite nicely
Unfortunately this is the 2nd pair I had to order that was not right. The 1st pair was too small for the size listed...I wear 42's in all other pants & shorts yet the 43.5's were too small. There wasn't an issue on return, just that I had to pay for shipping back as well as too me...not good. The 2nd pair I ordered came in the next size up...and fit a little snug but are wearable. Unfortunately, they sent the wrong color! I have worn 5.11 for years and never had an issue before but, that was through uniform shops...I don't think I will be ordering direct anymore!
these pants are very durable, and the poscket hold a lot of equipment.
I wear these pants everyday as part of my uniform for work. They are wonderfully constructed. The triple stitching and double seat and knees seem like they will outlast any pair of pants I've owned yet. I do have some minor critique/suggestions though. First and foremost, carry the triple stitching throughout the entirety of the garment. Second, add a gusseted crotch like is present on the Tac-Lite Pro pants. That would greatly increase range of motion/longevity of the garment. Third, the length is long. This isn't necessarily a criticism as I wear my pants long anyway and blouse these for work, just be forewarned that when you order the "Long" length, they truly are long; feels like 36-37" in reality. Above and beyond those three, this is a great pair of pants and I will most certainly be ordering more for both work and personal use.
These were the first pants of this sort that I have purchased. At first I thought they might be a little too casual for my normal wear. Having worn them I find that they look very nice.
The pants is very cool and handy, I have been using it on my job (police officer) for a long time, very comfortable when you put it on, easy to clean, no color deformation, lots of buckets, I even use it when I ride my bike.
I recommend this pants for your job if your job is related to the police, army est. Also I recommend it for motor bikers, it was very useful when I felt down from the bike, it gave me the protection that I needed
I ordered these for my son. This is the second pair I have given him as he really likes the first pair. These are very nice looking pants.
Starting out as an Explorer for our Sheriff's Dept, I went out to find a uniform. I had to find a pair of BDU style pants, but the store I went to only had TDU's.
GREAT PAIR OF PANTS! They had my waist size (28), which was a miracle. Ha!
I don't like the baggy feeling. I'm used to wearing Levi 5.11 skinny jeans, and these are like "parachute pants". They also feel too long, only being 5'6", and 125 pounds, I felt kinda stupid.
I also knew their were kneepads in the knee, but I figured they didn't come out...just threw them in the wash and after reading a few reviews, THEY DO COME OUT! Something I'll have to deal with after they dry. :(
Anyways, great pair of pants. Minor changes needed, but they can be worked around.
